Mega Plantation: "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" at SBP Mahavidyalaya, Samantiapalli
On September 17, 2025, SBP Mahavidyalaya, Samantiapalli, Ganjam, celebrated a special "Mega Plantation" drive with the theme "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" (A Tree in the Name of Mother). This noble initiative aimed to raise environmental awareness and encourage students to take an active role in protecting nature.
The event was graced by the presence of the college's esteemed Principal, Dr. Girish Chandra Behera. He highlighted the importance of tree plantation and urged everyone to plant more trees for a greener future. The program was also attended by key faculty members, including YRC Counsellor Mr. Bibhisan Bhuyan (Lecturer in Odia) and NSS Coordinator Mrs.Purna Prabha Tripathy (Lecturer in Political Science), who motivated the students to actively participate in such community-building activities.
All faculty members joined hands with the students, planting saplings around the college campus with great enthusiasm. The event wasn't just about planting trees; it was a heartfelt tribute to the nurturing power of mothers, symbolizing how we must care for the earth with the same love and dedication.
The "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign was a resounding success, fostering a sense of responsibility and environmental consciousness among the students and staff. The college looks forward to organizing more such initiatives to contribute to a sustainable and healthy environment.
