INTERNATIONAL WEBINAR
Faculty of Life Sciences, IAMR, organised the international webinar of “Emerging trends in Biotechnology and Microbiology” on 10th April 2021 from 4:30 PM onwards.
Mr Sanjay Bansal, Secretary, IAMR, Smt. Anshu Bansal, Joint Secretary, IAMR, Dr. P K Vashishtha, Director, IAMR and Dr. Abhimanyu Kumar Jha, Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences, IAMR graced the students/researchers with their auspicious presence.
The key speaker of the webinar, Dr. Udai Pandey, Associate Director, Pittsburgh Medical School University of Pittsburgh has done tremendous work in the area of neural diseases. He talked about the importance of Biotechnology and Microbiology in the world we are inhabiting currently. He also discussed about the trends and techniques in Biotechnology and Microbiology that are required to cope up with the present circumstances. He also discussed about the opportunities available for the students in the USA.
Dr. Abhimanyu Kumar Jha talked about how essential has the knowledge of Biotechnology and Microbiology become in the era of pandemics, receding biodiversity and climate change. He encouraged the students through his talk to come forward with new ideas and techniques as the current era belongs to Biotechnology. Many students and research scholars from various institutions participated in the webinar along with all the faculty members of the department.

WORLD HEALTH DAY

Biotechnology and Microbiology Society (BMS) under the aegis of Faculty of Life Sciences organised “WORLD HEALTH DAY” on 7th April., 2021. It consisted of Debate, Power point presentations & talk about various issues of health. Dr. Abhimanyu Kumar Jha, Dean, FLS, IAMR graced the students with their auspicious presence & talked about various health concerns. All the faculty members & students from BMS participated in this event. The faculty coordinators of this event were Dr. Mohit Kamthania & Dr. Divya Sharma.

The Biotechnology and Microbiology Society (BMS) under the aegis of Faculty of Life Sciences, IAMR, organized the event “Prakriti ke Kareeb” Part III on February 26, 2021 in continuation of the event started on Feb 16, 2021.
The prominent guest of the event was environmentalist Dr. Bhupesh Gupta. He shed light on various aspects of the biodiversity.
During the second session of event varieties of birds and their habits were discussed.
The event was graced by the presence of Shri Sanjay Bansal, Secretary, IAMR, Dr. P K Vashishtha, Director, IAMR and Dr. Abhimanyu Kumar Jha, Dean, FLS, IAMR.
Dr. Abhimanyu Kumar Jha talked about the necessity of adopting the concept of sustainable development. He also shared his thoughts about environment and ecology conservation with students.
In the end, question answer round was conducted and the students who gave correct answers were given certificates.
All the faculty members & students from Biotechnology & Microbiology Departments participated in this event.

The Biotechnology and Microbiology Society (BMS) under the aegis of Faculty of Life Sciences, IAMR, organized the event “Prakriti ke Kareeb” Part II on February 18, 2021 in continuation of the event started on Feb 16, 2021. It consisted of the lecture on recent environmental issues followed by a workshop on “Nest Building”.
The prominent guest of the event was Mr. Rakesh Khatri, Founder, Eco Roots Foundation. Mr. Rakesh Khatri is a renowned filmmaker and environmentalist. He is National record holder in Limca Book of Records and International Green Apple Award winner. He has also received prestigious National award from Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. Dr. P. K. Vashishtha, Director, IAMR and Dr. Abhimanyu Kumar Jha, Dean, FLS, IAMR graced the students with their auspicious presence.
Mr. Khatri shed some light on the importance of environment, wildlife and water conservation.
To make the event more fulfilled and interactive, a game was played about guessing the names of plants/animals and describing their characteristics. There was a question answer session with various students regarding the ecology and its conservation.
Dr. Abhimanyu Kumar Jha talked about how important it has become to protect the plants as well as wildlife. He also talked about various ways of connecting with nature.
A workshop was conducted on “Nest Building” to give teachers and students a hands-on experience on “Nest Building”. The students participated in the activity with zeal and passion. All the faculty members & students from Biotechnology & Microbiology Departments participated in this event.

The Biotechnology and Microbiology Society (BMS) under the aegis of Faculty of Life Sciences, IAMR, organized the event “Prakriti ke Kareeb” Part I on February 16, 2021. Mr. Sanjay Bansal, Secretary, IAMR, Smt. Anshu Bansal, Joint Secretary, IAMR, Dr. P K Vashishtha, Director, IAMR& Dr. Abhimanyu Kumar Jha, Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences, IAMR graced the students with their auspicious presence.
Shri Sanjay Bansal motivated the students to go into the details of the plants and use those details for going upto the commercial level. Smt Anshu Bansal talked about the different aspects of various plants, their utility and the need to discuss these issues with various other departments.
Dr. P. K. Vashishtha also motivated the students to remain close to the environmental issues.
After this there was a question answer session with various students regarding the plants and their different aspects. This was followed by plantation drive in the herbal garden. Many of these plants would be used for research purposes by the PG students.
In the end,Dr. Abhimanyu Kumar Jha discussed the need to understand the importance of various plants as well as their different properties. He also emphasized upon the fact that we should go in detail upto the molecule level to understand the various mechanismswhich are involved in the effect caused by the plants. He also said that we should keep on working in tandem with nature.
All the faculty members & students from Biotechnology & Microbiology Departments participated in this event. In the end certificates were distributed to the students and students were felicitated for bringing plants of medicinal value for the garden.

UDGHOSH -2021 (DAY-2)
On successful completion of Day-1 of “UDGHOSH: The Departmental Fest 2021”, the second day started with dances, duet and solo songs, poetry recitation and skits. All the students of Department of Biotechnology and Department of Microbiology took active participation and showcased their talent.
The second day of UDGHOSH-2021 was graced by the presence of Dr. Abhimanyu Kumar Jha, Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences & faculty members of Biotechnology, Microbiology and BJMC Departments, IAMR. All the students overwhelmingly participated in the event. BMS Students’ team put their best efforts in making the programme successful.
The valedictory session would be held in the evening.

UDGHOSH -2021

Biotechnology and Microbiology Society (BMS) under the aegis of Faculty of Life Sciences organized “UDGHOSH: The Departmental Fest 2021” on 7th & 8th January, 2021 to welcome 2021 with new hopes and enthusiasm. All the students of Department of Biotechnology and Department of Microbiology took active participation and showcased their talent. Events for the program were Blogging, Dance, Singing, Poetry, Shayari, Skit and Stand-up comedy. During the event all the government guidelines regarding COVID-19 were strictly adhered to.

Shri Sanjay Bansal, Secretary, IAMR, Smt. Anshu Bansal, Joint Secretary, IAMR, Mr. Krishan Kansal, Dean BBA-BCA Department, IAMR, Dr D. K. Jha, Principal, B.Ed. College, IAMR, Dr. Soumendu Bhattacharya, Director, PGDM, IAMR, Mr. Arun Goel, Registrar, IAMR and Dr. Abhimanyu Kumar Jha, Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences, IAMR, graced the students with their auspicious presence.

On the first day the event started with lamp-lighting, which was followed by kind words by Dr. Abhimanyu Kumar Jha, President BMS. The BMS badges were given to the students to honour them. Consequently, dancing and singing were performed by the students.

All the students overwhelmingly participated in the event. Faculty Co-ordinators for the event were Dr. Mohit Kamthania & Ms Neha Shukla. BMS Students’ team put their best efforts in making the programme successful.
