Bose School of Engineering, that spans the entire ground floor of the academic block and the annex building. The Department has a very distinguished team of faculty members who, in addition to being dedicated teachers and mentors of the undergraduate and postgraduate students, are committed scholars dedicated to the advancement of their knowledge through continuous research. Several faculty member
s are senior member/members of professional societies like IEEE (USA) and different professional societies under IEEE like Power and Energy Society, Power Electronics Society, Dielectric and Electrical Insulation Society, Signal Processing Society and Reliability Society and IE (India). Tech in Electrical Devices and Power Systems which aims at providing a high quality postgraduate education and excellent research opportunities. The Department also offers doctoral program in various specialized domains of Electrical Engineering as well as in multi-disciplinary areas. The research scholars are enrolled in leading universities of the country like Jadavpur University, Indian Institute of Science and Technology and MAKAUT. Some of our thrust areas of research are: Power System Stability and Control, Application of Signal Processing in Fault Diagnosis of Power Apparatus and Electric Machines, Application of Neural Networks and Support Vector Machines in High Voltage Engineering, Image Processing and Application of Signal Processing in Medical Biology. The research centre of the Department, namely, Centre for Renewable and Non-Conventional Energy Studies and Research is in a collaborative drive with NB Institute for Rural Technology, Kolkata. The Department has a very sophisticated laboratory named Texas Instruments C2000 Teaching Laboratory. The state-of-the-art laboratories of the Department are equipped with all the experiments prescribed in the university curriculum. It is mention worthy that the supply voltage in the Electrical Machines Laboratory is 110V as per the Washington Accord. The programs of the Department combine rigorous training in engineering fundamentals, both theory and practical. To produce employable graduates, the Department, in conjunction with the Training and Placement team of the institute grooms its students right from their first year. Special courses in entrepreneurship, in collaboration with NEN, are arranged frequently to encourage the students of the Department to strive for an entrepreneurial future.
