🔶 ছাত্র আন্দোলনের ঐতিহাসিক জয় — WRET বাতিলের দাবিতে ABVP-এর আন্দোলনের সফলতা🔶
PhD ভর্তির ক্ষেত্রে দীর্ঘদিন ধরে চলা অস্বচ্ছতা, বৈষম্য এবং বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ভিত্তিক প্রবেশিকা পরীক্ষা- WRET এর নামে মেধা চুরির বিরুদ্ধে ধারাবাহিকভাবে
আন্দোলন করে গেছি আমরা অখিল ভারতীয় বিদ্যার্থী পরিষদ (ABVP), যাদবপুর বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ইউনিট। আমাদের সুস্পষ্ট দাবি ছিল—UGC যখন ইতিমধ্যেই NET/UGC-CSIR NET/GATE/CEED-এর মতো জাতীয় স্তরের পরীক্ষাকে Ph.D. ভর্তির ভিত্তি হিসেবে স্বীকৃতি দিয়েছে, তখন পৃথক WRET/PAT/RET-এর মতো পরীক্ষা চালিয়ে ছাত্রছাত্রীদের উপর অযৌক্তিক আর্থিক, মানসিক ও প্রশাসনিক বোঝা চাপিয়ে দেওয়ার কোনও যৌক্তিকতা নেই।
শুধু যাদবপুর বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় নয়, পশ্চিমবঙ্গের একাধিক বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে WRET/PAT-এর মতো গবেষণা প্রবেশিকা পরীক্ষা নিয়ে দীর্ঘদিন ধরে স্বচ্ছতা ও নিরপেক্ষতা নিয়ে প্রশ্ন উঠেছে। বহু গবেষক ছাত্রছাত্রীর অভিযোগ, লিখিত পরীক্ষা ও সাক্ষাৎকারে নম্বর প্রদানের ক্ষেত্রে অনেক সময় অস্বচ্ছ মূল্যায়ন, স্বজনপোষণ এবং রাজনৈতিক পক্ষপাতের সুযোগ তৈরি হয়, যার ফলে প্রকৃত মেধাবীরা বঞ্চিত হন এবং গবেষণায় ভর্তির প্রক্রিয়ার উপর আস্থা ক্ষুণ্ণ হয়। যাদবপুর বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ও এই বিতর্কের বাইরে ছিল না। এই কারণেই ABVP প্রথম থেকেই দাবি জানিয়ে এসেছে যে, PhD ভর্তির ক্ষেত্রে জাতীয় স্তরের পরীক্ষার ভিত্তিতে একটি স্বচ্ছ, অভিন্ন ও মেধাভিত্তিক ব্যবস্থা কার্যকর করতে হবে, যাতে কোনও বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়েই কারও ব্যক্তিগত বা রাজনৈতিক প্রভাব খাটানোর সুযোগ না থাকে।
এই দাবিকে সামনে রেখেই ABVP যাদবপুর বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রশাসন এবং পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারের উচ্চ শিক্ষা দপ্তরের কাছে ধারাবাহিকভাবে আন্দোলন, স্মারকলিপি ও দাবি পেশ করেছে। আমাদের একটাই বক্তব্য ছিল—PhD ভর্তি হবে শুধুমাত্র যোগ্যতার ভিত্তিতে, কোনও রাজনৈতিক পরিচয় বা পক্ষপাতের ভিত্তিতে নয়। আর যাদবপুরে JUTA নামক CPM এর শিক্ষক সংগঠন ছিল এই মেধা চুরির প্রধান মস্তিষ্ক। যারা SFI বাম নকশাল ছাত্রছাত্রীদের WRET এর through তে অযোগ্য ছাত্র ছাত্রীদের Backdoor Entry করাতো আর বঞ্চিত হত যোগ্য NET SET JRF পাওয়া ছাত্র ছাত্রী।
আজ অত্যন্ত আনন্দের সঙ্গে জানাচ্ছি যে, পশ্চিমবঙ্গ উচ্চ শিক্ষা দপ্তর রাজ্যের বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়গুলিকে পৃথক PAT/RET/WRET-এর মতো গবেষণা প্রবেশিকা পরীক্ষা না নেওয়ার নির্দেশ দিয়েছে এবং UGC-NET/UGC-CSIR NET/GATE/CEED-এর স্কোরের ভিত্তিতে Ph.D. ভর্তির সিদ্ধান্ত কার্যকর করার নির্দেশ জারি করেছে।
এই সিদ্ধান্ত গবেষণায় ভর্তির ক্ষেত্রে স্বচ্ছতা, জবাবদিহিতা এবং মেধার মর্যাদা প্রতিষ্ঠার পথে একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ পদক্ষেপ। এর ফলে অপ্রয়োজনীয় একাধিক প্রবেশিকা পরীক্ষার বোঝা কমবে, একই সঙ্গে গবেষণায় ভর্তির ক্ষেত্রে অস্বচ্ছতা ও বৈষম্যের সুযোগও অনেকাংশে হ্রাস পাবে।
ABVP বিশ্বাস করে, ছাত্রস্বার্থের প্রশ্নে কোনও আপস হয় না। আমাদের আন্দোলন কোনও ব্যক্তি বা প্রতিষ্ঠানের বিরুদ্ধে নয়; আমাদের আন্দোলন একটি স্বচ্ছ, জবাবদিহিমূলক এবং মেধাভিত্তিক উচ্চশিক্ষা ব্যবস্থার পক্ষে। আজকের এই সিদ্ধান্ত সেই দীর্ঘদিনের ছাত্র আন্দোলনের একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ সাফল্য এবং যোগ্য গবেষক ছাত্রছাত্রীদের ন্যায্য অধিকারের স্বীকৃতি।
আমরা পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারের এই সিদ্ধান্তকে স্বাগত জানাই এবং আশা করি, রাজ্যের সমস্ত বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় দ্রুত এই নির্দেশ কার্যকর করবে, যাতে গবেষণায় ভর্তির ক্ষেত্রে আর কোনও ধরনের অস্বচ্ছতা, পক্ষপাত বা অনিয়মের সুযোগ না থাকে।
ABVP অতীতেও ছাত্রস্বার্থে লড়েছে, বর্তমানে লড়ছে এবং ভবিষ্যতেও ছাত্রস্বার্থ, শিক্ষার গুণগত মান, স্বচ্ছ প্রশাসন ও মেধার মর্যাদা প্রতিষ্ঠার জন্য একই দৃঢ়তায় সংগ্রাম চালিয়ে যাবে।

🔶 Historic Victory of the Student Movement — Success of ABVP's Movement for the Abolition of WRET 🔶
For a long time, we, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Jadavpur University Unit, have been continuously fighting against the lack of transparency, discrimination, and the theft of merit in Ph.D. admissions in the name of university-based entrance examinations such as WRET. Our clear demand has always been that when the UGC has already recognized national-level examinations such as UGC-NET, UGC-CSIR NET, GATE, and CEED as the basis for Ph.D. admissions, there is no justification for continuing separate entrance examinations like WRET, PAT, or RET, which impose an unnecessary financial, mental, and administrative burden on students.
Not only at Jadavpur University but also at several universities across West Bengal, questions have long been raised regarding the transparency and impartiality of research entrance examinations such as WRET and PAT. Many research aspirants have alleged that the evaluation process in written examinations and interviews often lacks transparency and creates opportunities for favoritism and political bias. As a result, deserving candidates are deprived of their rightful opportunities, and confidence in the Ph.D. admission process is undermined. Jadavpur University was also not beyond this controversy. For this reason, ABVP has consistently demanded that a transparent, uniform, and merit-based Ph.D. admission system based on national-level examinations be implemented, ensuring that no university provides scope for personal or political influence in the admission process.
With this demand at the forefront, ABVP has continuously organized movements, submitted memoranda, and placed its demands before the Jadavpur University administration and the Higher Education Department of the Government of West Bengal. Our position has always been clear—Ph.D. admissions must be based solely on merit, not on political identity or bias. At Jadavpur University, JUTA, a CPI(M)-led teachers' organization, is the main mastermind behind WRET. They used to give admission to SFI, Left, and Naxal students through backdoor entry via WRET by taking seats away from deserving NET, SET, and JRF-qualified students.
Today, we are delighted to announce that the Higher Education Department of the Government of West Bengal has directed the universities across the state not to conduct separate research entrance examinations such as PAT, RET, or WRET and has instructed them to implement Ph.D. admissions based on the scores obtained in UGC-NET, UGC-CSIR NET, GATE, and CEED.
This decision is a significant step toward ensuring transparency, accountability, and the recognition of merit in the Ph.D. admission process. It will reduce the burden of multiple unnecessary entrance examinations while significantly minimizing the scope for opacity and discrimination in research admissions.
ABVP firmly believes that there can be no compromise when it comes to the interests of students. Our movement has never been against any individual or institution; it has always been in support of a transparent, accountable, and merit-based higher education system. Today's decision marks an important success of this long-standing student movement and represents the recognition of the rightful claims of deserving research scholars.
We welcome this decision of the Government of West Bengal and hope that all universities across the state will implement these directions at the earliest so that there remains no scope for any kind of opacity, bias, or irregularity in the Ph.D. admission process.
ABVP has fought for the interests of students in the past, is fighting today, and will continue to fight in the future with the same determination to uphold students' rights, improve the quality of education, ensure transparent administration, and establish the dignity of merit.
