Patio, in Spanish and Latin American architecture, a courtyard within a building, open to the sky. It is a Spanish development of the Roman atrium and is comparable to the Italian cortile. The patio was a major feature in medieval Spanish architecture. Sevilla Cathedral (1402–1506) has a patio, as did the ducal palace at Guadalajara (1480–92; destroyed 1936), which was a transitional work displaying Moorish, Gothic, and Renaissance architectural details.
During the Spanish Renaissance the patio became a standard element in houses. It differed from its Italian counterpart in having a greater degree of seclusion, possibly due to Moorish custom. In the Alcázar, Toledo (c. 1531–53; largely destroyed 1936–39), the patio could only be seen through a few doorways.
Because of the hot climate of Spain, arcades surrounding patios took on special importance as shelters from the heat and came to be richly decorated. The patio was imported by the Spanish to Latin America, where it is a characteristic feature of ecclesiastic and larger secular and domestic structures.

Hard to pronounce, hygge ("hooga") is difficult to explain, too. In brief, hygge is about taking time away from the daily rush to be together with people you care about - or even by yourself - to relax and enjoy life's quieter pleasures.
Typically, the setting is at home or another quiet location, or perhaps a picnic during the summer months. It usually involves sharing a meal and wine or beer, or hot chocolate and a bowl of candy if children are included. Hence there is no agenda. You celebrate the small joys of life, or maybe discuss deeper topics. It is an opportunity to unwind and take things slow.

Originally, ad hoc is a Latin phrase and this expression originated around the 1550s. the literal English translation is "for this".For example: Issues that come up in the course of a project often require immediate, ad hoc solutions. An ad hoc investigating committee is authorized to look into a matter of limited scope.
Often the term is used as a criticism, in the sense that something done ad hoc is done hastily and can be ill thought out, serving only to address a problem in the short term. Government programs are often described as ad hoc, for example. But the term can also imply a sense of ingenuity, of impromptu brilliance, or of something happily care-free and devoid of fuss. Like your ad hoc knitting event!

It’s a pleasant evening, good for outing but here you are assisting your friend with assignments but you are happy because he have planned a KFC dinner for you, Isn’t worthy, Of course it is.

Indeed it’s a perfect example of Quid Pro Quo: Being arrived from Latin phrase, it means a situation in which mutual exchange of assistance takes place, they will be doing something in exchange only when you are also reverting back with something.

"Fait Accompli" is borrowed from French which means“an accomplished fact”), from fait (“a fact”) + accompli (“accomplished”).
The literal translation into English of this French phrase is a fact realized or accomplished - what might these days be called a done deal or deed. Strangely, it entered the English language via a travelogue of Spain rather than France. Richard Ford's A hand-book for travellers in Spain, 1845, was and still is, regarded as a classic of travel writing. In it Ford included the phrase "This is now a fait accompli.", in regard of some previously decided fact.

We all know the movies are released in different versions to correlate with other nations?

But how serious are these versions?!!!

We all remember our Captain America having a To-Do list in Winter Soldier. Marvel went to great lengths in showing a different version of the To-Do list for other nations, where the scene is for 3 seconds only.
Some examples are the North American version has "Steve jobs," Russian - "Yuri Gagarin," French - "The fifth element" and South Korean - "Dance dance revolution." The above depicts the impact of culture on strategies.

We are bringing our new initiative, "FLCC note," which discusses the business cases that has a cultural influence on them.

DO YOU KNOW?

What did Mercedes Benz do when they found out a similar-sounding word in Chinese, "Bensi," meaning "rush to die." How did they end up launching the product?

After it ran a campaign "Everyday Low Prices" in Japan, what happened to Walmart as people of Japan associate low prices with cheap quality?

We bring to you our new initiative "FLCC Note" featuring cultural impacts on business strategies. Follow us to as we expose you to interesting strategies and the cultural impact any company has on it's brand.

Have you ever try to bring humor into a conversation but ended up putting yourself and others in an awkward situation. Then you have committed a faux pas.

Faux pas is pronounced as - foh pahz.
It was originated in France in 1670, where Faux - "false" and Pas - "dance step." Over time, it represented "fake." Now it means "False step" - an embarrassing social blunder.

We come across or commit Faux Pas very often. Like you cannot give a thumbs up in the Middle East, as it is considered rude. Incidents like you are talking with food in your mouth at a formal dinner or wearing socks and sandals to a party.
