The Department of Political Science, Mangaldai College has organized a special talk on the occasion of Human Rights Day today on 10 December 2025 at 11:00 A.M. The theme of the programme was “Child Rights: Protection and Care.” The session has conducted on the Google Meet platform, and 100 participants joined the event, including faculty members, students, and invited attendees.
The resource person for the talk was Mr. Mayukh Goswami, Senior Journalist at The Assam Tribune and President of Crystal Vision. In his insightful and engaging presentation, Mr. Goswami highlighted the significance of child rights in the context of contemporary society. He has discussed the legal, social, and moral dimensions of child protection, emphasizing the necessity of collective responsibility in ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for children. He shed light on key issues such as child labour, child marriage, trafficking, abuse and neglect, and stressed the importance of awareness, timely intervention, and community participation.
The speaker also shared several real-life examples and field experiences, which made the session highly informative and relatable for the audience. Participants actively interacted during the question–answer segment, raising relevant concerns and seeking clarifications on various aspects of child rights and welfare mechanisms.

The Mangaldai College Teachers’ Unit (MCTU) celebrated the remarkable and praiseworthy journey of Dr. Minati Sharma, former Head of the Department and Associate Professor of Zoology, Mangaldai College, and an esteemed active member of MCTU, on 30th August 2025 at the Science Gallery, Mangaldai College, from 1 pm.
The event commenced with an inspiring address by Dr. Kamala Kanta Borah, Principal of Mangaldai College, who highlighted Dr. Sharma’s relentless service to the institution and her unwavering commitment to the well-being of the College community despite personal challenges. Dr. Borah also remarked that Dr. Sharma has nothing to loose, and if she looks back, she has countless things to be proud of.
Dr. Sharma served Mangaldai College with dedication and sincerity for more than three decades—from 16th December 1993 to 31st August 2025—leaving behind an inspiring legacy for colleagues and the academic community.
Distinguished faculty members of the College, along with members of MCTU, conveyed their heartfelt wishes through words of appreciation and thoughtful tokens of love.
In her speech, Dr. Sharma deeply moved the gathering with valuable life lessons—urging everyone never to give up, to keep patience in adversities, to face setbacks with a warm smile, to embrace the vision of entrepreneurship, to explore the scope of autonomy, and above all, never to feel ashamed of any work, however small or humble it may seem . She also acknowledged with gratitude everyone who had supported her in her times of challenge.
She fondly recalled her journey of becoming a part of Mangaldai College and paid tribute to the pioneers whose sacrifices and tears helped shape the institution into what it is today.
The occasion was a heartfelt acknowledgment of Dr. Sharma’s dedication, resilience, gratitude, and inspiring service.
