Special Programme – “Kavya Kannadiyali Kanda Vivekanandaru” (55th Lecture Series)

The Swami Vivekananda Study Centre, in association with the Student Welfare Council, organized a special programme titled“Kavya Kannadiyali Kanda Vivekanandaru” on May 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in Lecture Hall-04.

The keynote session was delivered by Dr. Dhananjay Kumble, Assistant Professor, S.V.P Kannada Adyayana Samsthe, Mangalore University, who spoke on the philosophy, patriotism, spirituality, and youth-oriented vision of Swami Vivekananda through Kannada literary perspectives.

The programme began with a welcome address by Mrs. Suchithra Shetty, followed by opening remarks from Mr. Hardik P. Chauhan, Principal, who emphasized the importance of discipline and character building. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Mr. Thilak Gowda, Student Welfare Mentor.

The session was inspiring and insightful, encouraging students to imbibe the values and teachings of Swami Vivekananda.

Career Launch Placement Drive 2026

The Training, Internships & Placement Cell, in collaboration with QSpiders, organized the Career Launch Placement Drive 2026 on May 11, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. in Lecture Hall-08.

The programme began with a Pre-Placement Talk, followed by an Online Aptitude Test, Group Discussion, and HR Round. The session provided students with valuable insights into career opportunities, recruitment processes, and industry expectations.

A total of 35 students participated in the drive, and the following students were selected for a Free Internship with Placement Opportunity and received offer letters:

Inauguration of 10-Day Tulu Drama Workshop

The inauguration of the 10-day “Tulu Drama Workshop”, organized by the Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy, was held on May 09, 2026, at 11:15 A.M. The workshop was aimed at promoting interest in Tulu language, culture, and theatre arts among students.

The programme was graced by Mr. Lakshman Kumar Mallur, Senior Theatre & Film Actor; Mr. Tharanath Gatti Kapikad, President, Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy; Mr. Hardik P. Chauhan, Principal; and Mr. Udyavar Nagesh Kumar, Theatre Director and Academy Member.

The dignitaries highlighted the importance of theatre in personality development, creativity, and preserving Tulu culture and language. The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and marked a meaningful step towards promoting regional art and culture.

The Department of Commerce conducted a Departmental Extension Activity on “GST Awareness” as part of its Community Outreach & Tax Literacy Initiative from April 24 to May 5, 2026, at Urwa, Ashoknagara, Urwa Longlane, and Nanthoor, Mangaluru.

Final-year B.Com students interacted with local shopkeepers and small business owners, creating awareness about GST fundamentals, GST registration, Input Tax Credit (ITC), and the benefits of the Composite Scheme for small businesses.

The activity provided students with valuable practical exposure while promoting financial and tax literacy within the local business community.

Educational Visit – Indian Knowledge System (IKS) Cell

The Indian Knowledge System (IKS) Cell organized an educational visit on May 08, 2026, to the Shrimanthi Bai Memorial Government Museum and the Pandava Caves at Kadri Hills, Mangaluru.

The visit aimed to promote experiential learning and create awareness about the region’s cultural heritage and historical significance. Students explored historical artifacts, architectural traditions, and indigenous knowledge practices, gaining deeper insights into India’s rich cultural legacy.

With 41 students and 2 faculty members participating, the visit proved to be an informative and enriching learning experience.

World Red Cross Day 2026

In commemoration of World Red Cross Day 2026 with the theme “United in Humanity,” the Youth Red Cross Unit organized a Cleanliness Drive on May 08, 2026, at the college premises and Sri Mariyamma Temple as part of its extension activities.

A total of 24 volunteers actively participated in the drive, promoting awareness about cleanliness, hygiene, and environmental responsibility. The volunteers enthusiastically cleaned the surroundings and contributed towards maintaining a healthy environment.

The activity was coordinated by the Programme Officers of the Youth Red Cross Unit, whose guidance ensured the smooth conduct of the programme. The drive successfully promoted the spirit of social service, teamwork, and humanitarian values among students.

Valedictory Ceremony – Students’ Welfare Council 2025–26

The Valedictory Ceremony of the Students’ Welfare Council (SWC) 2025–26 was held on May 08, 2026, at 11:30 A.M. in the Basement Atrium to honor the contributions of the outgoing council members.

The programme featured reflections by Student Welfare Mentor Mr. Thilak Gowda, SWC President Mr. Sudeep Rai, and Vice President Ms. Joylin Rowena Pinto, followed by the return of portfolio insignia and handover of the institutional flag, symbolizing the completion of responsibilities.

Mr. Hardik P. Chauhan, Principal, appreciated the dedication and leadership of the council members, while Mr. U. K. Khalid delivered the Presidential Address. The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Ms. Apoorva and was gracefully compered by Ms. Saanvi.
