This is a statement of condemnation of the Transgender( Protection of Rights) Amendment Bill, 2026 , signed by 40+ student from accross law schools.

This bill was introduced in Lok Sabha on 13th of March. It grossly dilutes years of hard-won constitutional protections for transgender, intersex and gender non confirming persons and seeks to strip away their dignity, autonomy and right to self-determination.

We strongly condemn the proposed amendments that stand against the constitutional values that built this nation.

We are thrilled to announce a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Workshop being held on 11th October 2023! This workshop is a unique chance to celebrate five years of progress since the landmark Supreme Court verdict decriminalising homosexuality by reflecting on how far we've come and discussing the way forward in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion at NALSAR.

The workshop will be led by Harish Iyer () a renowned equal rights activist and Team Leader for Diversity, Equality and Inclusivity Team, and Anushka Trehan, HR and DE&I Team at Axis Bank. Harish Iyer is a prominent Indian LGBTQ+ activist and the sole Indian national to appear in the World Pride Power List of 100 most influential LGBTQ individuals. They moved the Supreme Court on equal marriage and decriminalization of Section 377.

The workshop would consist of: a nuanced understanding of the terms "Diversity, Equity and Inclusion", parameters of diversity and inclusion and their relevance to women and LGBTQIA+ people in the Indian context, why women and LGBTQIA folks at workplace - what value they bring, what may be done to involve and include them, understanding cross-cultural behavior, roadblocks and challenges in creating an inclusive organizations, how piecemeal approach does not work, how to ensure inclusion as a key organizational policy, improving communication efficiency with diverse communities, removing unconscious bias, how to use inclusive language, assimilation v/s inclusion, new dimensions of diversity, how to include and leverage team members having different thinking style.

STATEMENT OF CONDEMNATION AND SOLIDARITY

BREAK THE CULTURE OF CATEGORIC DEAFENING SILENCE ON ATROCIOUS ATTACK AND BRUTALITY!!

No! This is not acceptable
No! We shall not maintain Silence
No!! We shall not justify this act of Brutality

We call for solidarity across the communities and collectives to stand up for and with .

She is a transwoman and a human rights and RTI activist from Hyderabad. She was attacked by few strangers in the front yard of her house on the 25th of April. She was physically attacked and bruised by about 6 persons, two of were transgender and the rest being cisgender male persons.

Stand up with the Victims and Survivors of Violence
Stand up for Humanity
Stand up for Inter-community Solidarity
Stand up for Truth
Stand up against the Oppressive System

We condemn such cowardly acts of ‘terrifying’ activists from marginalized communities by means of violence and brutality.
Victimization and victimhood is to be visibilised when it encounters the perpetrators either within the socially affiliated and affirmed cohesive community or from outside the community. The perpetrators of ‘terror’ and ‘violence’ need to be condemned and strictly brought before the court of law and subjected to ‘fair and just’ process of investigation, enquiry and trial.
