SHPT School of Library Science The SHPT School of Library Science, founded in 1961, is a Department of the SNDT Women's University, and is situated on its Churchgate campus. The Ph.D.

The SHPT School of Library Science is a department of Library and information studies that was established under SNDT Women's University at the Churchgate Campus in the year 1961. The Department started by offering a Post-Graduate Diploma course in Library Science. Over the years, following a policy of evaluating and revising its courses at regular intervals, the Department has aimed to keep up wi

th the expanding needs of the job market by introducing new courses and upgrading existing courses. Thus, the Postgraduate B Lib Sc. degree course replaced the original diploma course in 1964 and was restructured thereafter to B L I Sc. to keep abreast with the developments in the field. The Master's course was introduced in 1978. Programme was introduced in 1985. Syllabus have been revised regularly at the interval of five to six years. The Department now offers the following post-graduate courses in Library and Information Science, viz.
* Master of Library & Information Science (M.L.I.Sc.) .
* Ph.D in Library and Information Science.
* Online course in Archives Management and School and Children's Librarianship

It also conducts on a regular basis Library Continuing Education Programmes for working librarians.

Mr. Mahesh Ghanekar, Deputy Director- Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas shared expertise and lots of cases to elaborate on how different strategies play its role in KM. He also focused on the various job avenues in KM for Library Science students

What an in depth visit we ever had to any library or archives...it went on for almost 3.5 hrs. Thanks to the entire team of Godrej Archives for giving elaborate explanations which really helped all of us in understanding the theory of Archives. It was indeed a learning experience.
