Aspiring filmmakers dreaming of studying in the city-based Film and Television Institute of India will have to wait for a little longer before they can apply for its postgraduate diploma courses this year.

PUNE: A four-week course in film appreciation will be held at the National Film Archive of India (NFAI) and the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) from June 2 to June 28.

The intensive full-time course is designed to promote comprehensive understanding of cinema and give insight into the nature of cinema and other related forms and practices. Recent developments like independent films, digital art and diverse practices that come under the broad umbrella of new media will be covered as part of the course. The curriculum includes theoretical study of the art and history of film and the development of cinema as a medium of art and communication, a statement issued by organizers said.

Conceptual areas of cinema like time, space mise-en-scene, genres and movement are integral components of the four-week-long programme. The participants will be introduced to the changing nature of film production and its evolving relationship with digital arts. Film classics, short films and non-fiction films, both Indian and international, will be used for critical analysis and study. Besides, landmark films will be screened in the evening. There will be face-to-face interaction with filmmakers where the participants will get a chance to discuss and debate new films along with its directors.

The course is designed to meet the needs of teachers/scholars interested in introducing film study activities in educational institutions, media practitioners, film society organisers, researchers, government officials handling films and serious followers of cinema. The faculty is drawn from the FTII and eminent resource persons from the industry and practicing professionals are also invited. Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, an Autonomous Institute under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt. of India, invites applications for admission to the following courses.

Proportionate no. of seats are reserved for SC/ST/OBC candidates and for persons with disabilities as per Govt. policy of reservations.

In addition to the declared seats, one seat is researved in each course for foreign students on Indian Government sponsored scholarships such as those sponsored by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). Candidates applying through ICCR should get in touch with the respective Indian Embassies only. Candidates are to submit credentials regarding his/her knowledge of English Language. Candidates may directly contact the Institute ith details of credentials as per ICCR guidelines.

APPEARED GRADUATES

Appeared Graduates may also apply. Such candidates opting for Certificate Course in Screenplay Writing must submit graduation certificate / mark-sheet at the time of Orientation. Those opting for One Year Certificate Course in Television must submit the same at the time of interview. In the event of not submitting the said certificate/ mark-sheet as per above, the candidate will not be allowed to participate for further admission process.

ADMISSION TEST

The Entrance Examination for all the courses will be held on 15.062014 (Sunday) (Date can be changed for unavoidable reasons), at the following centers: Kolkata, Pune, New Delhi, Bangalore, Bhopal.

HOW TO APPLY

The Candidates can also apply online through FTII Website from 24.3.2014. The prospectus containing the application form and other details may be obtained on request along with a demand draft of Rs. 2150/- for General Category and Rs. 650/- for SC, ST and Economically Backward ( candidates should enclose attested copy

of Parent's BPL card with the application form ) drawn on any of the Nationalised Banks in favour of "Accounts Officer, Film and Television Institute of India," payable at Pune.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR 2012 BATCH FIRST YEAR STUDENTS OF THREE YEAR DIPLOMA COURSE IN DIRECTION, CINEMATOGRAPHY, EDITING, SOUND RECORDING & SOUND DESIGN AND TWO YEAR DIPLOMA COURSE IN ART DIRECTION AND PRODUCTION DESIGN.

Final results of first year has been announced.

All the students, whose results are withheld due to non-submission of Film Appreciation and/or Screenplay Sessionals, must submit the same between 14th to 18th October 2013, failing which they will not be promoted to 2nd year and their names would be struck off the roll of Film and Television Institute of India.

2nd year classes would begin from 21st October 2013 as announced.

Note:

Copies of Sessionals must be submitted in print.
