Substance abuse is emerging as a serious menace to individuals, families, and society. Early awareness, timely intervention, and vigilant support from peers, family members, and significant others remain vital in preventing substance dependence and promoting recovery.
In this regard, the Department of Social Work, USTM, organised an educational visit for the BSW and MSW freshers to the Sobriety Foundation Rehabilitation Centre.
The visit aimed to orient and sensitise the students to the realities of substance use, rehabilitation, recovery, and the role of social work in addressing this pressing social concern.
Such experiential learning opportunities help our students develop greater awareness, empathy, professional sensitivity, and a deeper understanding of social work practice in the field of addiction and rehabilitation.
Let us recognise that prevention begins with awareness, vigilance begins with responsibility, and recovery begins with support.
Together, let us work towards a healthier, safer, and substance-free society.
