About IIIT

The Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Andhra Pradesh is an Instituion of National Importance setup by Government of India (MHRD), Government of Andhra Pradesh and Industry Partners (represented by Sricity Foundation) as a not-for-profit Public Private Partnership (N-PPP) Society. The IIIT is expected to meet operating expenses from tuition fees, grants, sponsorships an

d donations. Additionally, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has lent support to the institute by granting 70 acres of land for setting up the Campus. The institute is run by the Board of Governors of The IIIT Society. The Board of Governors include representatives of MHRD, GoAP and Industry Partners; eminent people from academia, industry and civil society. MHRD (GoI) has taken up the initiative to setup 20 new IIITs to develop New Knowledge in Information Technology and to provide manpower of Global Standards for the Information Technology and Allied Fields. The IIIT is set up as a Research & Teaching Institute focused on the core areas of Information Technology: Computer Science, Electronics and Communications, and their applications in other domains. The institute will have strong research programmes in a host of areas, with Technology being the connecting thread. The emphasis will be on the development of Technology and Applications, which can be transferred for use to Industry and Society. While The IIIT is just starting from this Academic Year (2013), it endeavors to be among the top 10 Technology Institutions of India within 5-10 years.

Student Centeredness : Just completed the annual review of activities by three Student Councils which empower students. Many ideas emerged in the review for implementation in the ensuing academic year. “Student Academic Council (SAC)” provides continuous and proactive inputs /feedback on academic systems and processes, "Student Development Council (SDC)" leads all the development activities carried out through Technical, Cultural and Social clubs and "Student Life Council (SLC)" supports the administration in the areas of Hostels, Mess and Sports through participation in planning and implementation of resources and also to provide appropriate and timely feedback for effective functioning. Thank you Council members and faculty advisors for your active participation in making IIIT Sri City a "Nationally Relevant and Internationally Recognized Entrepreneurial Institution"

In the second Cohort, Gyan Circle Ventures (TBI of IIIT Sri City) has selected a total of nine start-ups in areas including healthcare, Energy, Water, Agriculture, etc which leverage emerging technologies such as AI. ML, IoT, Wearable Electronics and others. Each start-up is provided with a Grant and mentoring support to carry out R&D, testing activities and obtain necessary certification within a grant period of 12-18 months. Women's Day has been an occasion at IIIT Sri City filled with fun, fellowship and learning. Women's Day 2022 is celebrated from 6th to 8th March with renewed energy and enthusiasm, as girl students are on campus. The celebrations at IIIT Sri City also part of "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav". We warmly welcome all the distinguished speakers- Anu Acharya, Malyaj Varmani, Latha, Lekshmi Nair, Shilpa Rao, Dr. Shivani Gupta, Dr. Shyama Ramani and Sucharitha Kamath for gracing the occasion to share their experiences with our girl students.

We also celebrate Women's Day 2022 with girl students of local schools from villages adopted under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan.

The day marks the birth anniversary of the social reformer, great thinker and philosopher, Swami Vivekananda. His contributions are significantly relevant in the context of NEP2020.

Back to Campus 2021- The campus was looking empty without students for more 18 months. The teaching-learning processes were severely affected. Thanks to the massive vaccination programme led by our Hon,ble Prime Minister, our students are vaccinated and are ready to come back to campus. The first batch of returning students will be attending all academic academic activities in the offline mode from tomorrow. The faculty and Staff are excited to receive them. Special welcome to the the Second year BTech students who are coming to the campus for the first time after they joined in December 2020.
