Mahatma Gandhi Government Arts College, Mahe bid a heartfelt farewell to Dr. K. Manjula, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Hindi, on the occasion of her retirement on 31 March 2026. The college organized a warm and dignified retirement function in recognition of her dedicated service, unwavering commitment, and invaluable contributions to the academic community.
Throughout her distinguished career, Dr. Manjula has been a pillar of inspiration, guiding students with wisdom and nurturing a deep appreciation for Hindi language and literature. .

The Women’s Cell of Mahatma Gandhi Government Arts College, Mahe, in association with the Anti-Sexual Harassment Committee, ICC and IQAC, observed International Women’s Day with a vibrant and colourful awareness programme titled “Women: Empowered by Law, Empowered for Life.” The programme was organised in the college seminar hall on 10 March 2026 at 10.30 AM and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members. The event commenced with an invocation followed by the welcome address delivered by Dr. K. Sasikala, Co-ordinator of the Women’s Cell and Assistant Professor of Botany. The programme was presided over by Dr. K. K. Sivadasan, Principal of the college, who highlighted the significance of gender justice and the importance of institutional support systems for women. Mrs. Mini C. K., Convener of the ICC and Assistant Professor of English, introduced the chief guest. The highlight of the event was the address by Adv. Babitha Balraj, Advocate and Former Member of the Child Rights Commission, Kerala State, who delivered an insightful talk on legal awareness and women’s empowerment. Felicitation speeches were delivered by Dr. K. M. Gopinathan, IQAC Co-ordinator and Head of the Department of Zoology, and Dr. K. Manjula, Head and Assistant Professor of Hindi. The programme also included prize distribution, encouraging student participation in Women’s Day activities. The event concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Hemalatha S., Member of the Women’s Cell and Assistant Professor of English. The programme served as a meaningful platform to reaffirm the institution’s commitment to gender equality, legal awareness, and the empowerment of women in society.
