This edition of Intern Spotlight features our students who interned with ZEISS, gaining hands-on experience across Business Finance, Risk Management, FP&A, and Supply Chain. Their roles offered a close look at how financial insight and operational planning support a global leader known for precision and innovation.

From budgeting and forecasting to risk evaluation and demand planning, students worked on real business challenges that strengthened their analytical thinking and decision-making skills. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, they learned how structured data and financial discipline drive efficiency, resilience, and long-term strategy.

We sincerely thank ZEISS for mentoring our students and providing an enriching experience that combined financial rigor, operational exposure, and meaningful industry learning.

NMIMS Mumbai was delighted to host Mr. Ujjwal Mathur, President & Head – India Business and Strategic Accounts, TCS, for an insightful Guest Lecture as part of the Leadership Lecture Series.

Drawing from his extensive global experience, Mr. Mathur spoke about the logical emotion behind leadership — how passion, calmness, and structured thinking form the foundation of strong customer relationships. He emphasized the importance of ethical conduct, clear communication, consistency, and addressing even the smallest customer grievance with seriousness. His reminder that “a deal is not lost till it is truly lost” deeply resonated with students, reinforcing the value of persistence and strategic preparation.

He further highlighted the significance of building relationships beyond active transactions — staying connected even when no deal is underway, engaging with every level of a client’s hierarchy, and leveraging senior leadership and strategic alliances to deliver meaningful outcomes.

The session saw enthusiastic participation from students and was attended by Mr. Harsh*t Trivedi (HR Business Partner, TCS). Mr. Kanwar Dang (MBA – NMIMS), who facilitated the guest lecture, was also present.

SBM NMIMS Mumbai had the privilege of hosting Mr. Nirav Jagad (Chief People Officer) and Mr. Shubham Earla (People Partner – Executive) from Sugar Cosmetics for an inspiring Masterclass and Leadership Talk on “Building Robust Careers.”

Mr. Jagad shared powerful reflections on ownership, learning, and personal growth. Emphasizing that “there’s no work-life balance - there’s only life,” he illustrated through personal anecdotes how responsibility and passion often go hand in hand. He also highlighted the importance of finding mentors who guide one’s journey, taking ownership at every stage, and embracing failure as a stepping stone - using his experience with cycling to underscore the value of persistence and resilience.

Mr. Earla added valuable insights on navigating early career challenges and aligning individual aspirations with organizational goals at Sugar Cosmetics.
