On May 04, 2026, the Computer Department of Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Yamuna Nagar, hosted a farewell party to celebrate the end of the academic year. The event brought together students, faculty, and staff in a joyful and heartfelt gathering. The college principal, Dr. Arvinder Singh Bhalla, and the Head of the Department, Dr. Kiranpal Singh Virk graced the occasion and extended their congratulations to the students for their dedication throughout the year, wishing them success in all their future endeavors.

Students from BCA enthusiastically participated in a variety of activities, making the event lively and memorable. The highlights included:

Cultural Performances: Students showcased their artistic talents through songs, dances, skits, and other cultural acts.

Games: Interactive and fun games such as treasure hunts were organized to engage and entertain.

Photo Sessions: Students captured moments with friends and teachers to preserve memories of their college life.

Speak & Share: Many students took the stage to share their experiences, express gratitude, and bid farewell to their peers and mentors.

As part of the celebration, following titles were awarded:

All final-year students were presented with farewell gifts as a token of love and appreciation.

Faculty members Jasmine Kaur, Bhawna Sharma, Minni Sharma, Dolly Arora, Richa Sahni, Yogita Verma, Abhey also addressed the students. They extended their heartfelt best wishes, encouraging the students to uphold strong moral values, be responsible citizens, and continue to pursue academic excellence.

The Department of Computer Science and Applications of Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Yamunanagar organized the second day of a workshop titled “Technical Skill Development with DSA” and "Interview Skills and Career Preparation"on 12 March 2026. The workshop aimed to enhance students’ technical knowledge and career readiness.

The event began with Session 1 on Technical Skills Development with Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA). The session was conducted by Prof. Jasmeen Kaur and Prof. Bhawna Sharma, Assistant Professors in the Department of Computer Science and Applications. They explained the importance of strong programming fundamentals and problem-solving skills for students preparing for careers in the IT industry.

Session 2 was conducted by Mr. Abhey and Mr. Rishab on the topic Web and Full Stack Development. They introduced students to modern web technologies and shared practical insights into developing web applications and the growing demand for full stack developers.

The final Session 3 was delivered by Mr. Jaspreet Singh, who spoke on Interview Skills and Career Preparation. He guided students on preparing for job interviews, improving communication skills, and building confidence for professional opportunities.

Students from BCA and B.Sc. participated enthusiastically in the workshop and benefited from the expert guidance of the resource persons.

The Principal, Dr. Arvinder Singh Bhalla, extended his best wishes to the organizers and participants for the successful conduct of the workshop. The Head of the Department Dr. Kiranpal Singh Virk highlighted the importance of such workshops in enhancing students’ technical and professional skills. The Department of Computer Science and Applications of Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Yamunanagar organized an insightful workshop on “Smart Learning with AI Tools” on March 11, 2026. The workshop aimed to familiarize students with the growing role of artificial intelligence in enhancing modern learning methods.

The resource person for the session was Prof. Etender Singh (Dept. of Geography) who shared practical insights into the use of various AI tools that can assist students in improving productivity, research, and digital learning. Through live demonstrations and examples, he explained how AI-powered platforms can support smart study techniques, content generation, and academic problem-solving.

The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students of BPS and BCA.

On this occasion, the Principal of the college, Dr. Arvinder Singh Bhalla, extended his best wishes to the department and encouraged students to adopt emerging technologies like artificial intelligence to enhance their learning experiences.

The event was organized under the guidance of the Head of the Department, Dr. Kiranpal Singh Virk. The Department of Computer Science & Applications in collaboration with the Training & Employment Cell organized an Expert Lecture on “AI’s Real Impact on Business & Careers ” at Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Yamuna Nagar. The lecture was aimed to help students and faculty in understanding how the Artificial Intelligence is shaping careers and industries, and the skills needed to succeed in the future..
The session was delivered by Dr. Inder Singh, Associate Professor, School of Business, UPES Dehradun, and was aimed to sensitize students about the practical impact of Artificial Intelligence on businesses and career pathways, emerging industry trends, and the essential skills required to stay relevant in the rapidly evolving professional landscape.
He further discussed the practical and real-world impact of AI rather than focusing only on theoretical concepts. He explained how AI is reshaping modern businesses by improving efficiency, automating decision-making, enhancing customer experience, and enabling data-driven strategies.
Mr. Sumit Wason, Assistant Director, UPES Dehradun, also interacted with the students, responding to their questions and concerns.
Principal Dr. Arvinder Singh Bhalla appreciated the efforts of the department for taking this initiative and emphasized that AI should not be viewed as a threat to employment, but as a technology that is reshaping job roles. Many new career paths are emerging in the field of Artificial Intelligence. Students were encouraged to understand these changes and prepare themselves accordingly.
Sardar Randeep Singh Jauhar, President, Governing Body and Managing Committee, congratulated the department for successfully conducting the event and encouraged students to embrace technology responsibly to contribute positively to society.

Dr. Kiranpal Singh Virk, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Applications encouraged students to stay curious about emerging technologies and to actively participate in events that enhance their technical and professional knowledge. Dr. Rajinder Singh Vohra, Incharge Training and Employment Cell also emphasized that AI is becoming a necessity across all disciplines, not just Computer Science. They also guided students on aligning their career preparation with current industry trends.
The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Tilak Raj, Head of the Department of Punjabi and Dr. Vinay Chandel, Associate Professor, Department of Hindi.

The lecture was aimed to empower students and faculty with meaningful exposure to emerging technologies, current industry trends, and the practical aspects of real-world project development.
The session was delivered by Mr. Brijpal, Dell Soft, Yamuna Nagar, who shared valuable insights into the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence, its wide-ranging applications across different sectors, and the importance of project-based learning in enhancing students’ technical skills and employability.
