⁣
On National Science Day, we pause to celebrate discovery but we also reflect on the responsibility that comes with it. Science is not only about breakthroughs but also about building a future that is healthier, wiser, and more sustainable.⁣
⁣
At TDU, science begins with a question: 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘥𝘰 𝘸𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘭𝘦𝘥𝘨𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘦𝘵?⁣
⁣
In our labs, classical medical texts meet molecular biology.⁣
In our classrooms, students examine tradition through the lens of critical inquiry.⁣
On our campus, medicinal plants are not just specimens - they are living repositories of healing.⁣
In communities, local health practices are documented, validated, and strengthened.⁣
⁣
This is science that connects disciplines.⁣
Science that respects ecology.⁣
Science that translates into impact.⁣
⁣
As we commemorate Sir C.V. Raman’s spirit of inquiry, we reaffirm our own commitment to research that bridges systems of knowledge, to education that nurtures curiosity with integrity, and to innovation that serves society.⁣
⁣
Because the future of health will not emerge from silos. It will emerge from dialogue between past and present, lab and landscape, data and lived experience.⁣
⁣
That is the science we believe in.⁣
That is the science we practice.⁣

When tradition speaks the language of science, transformation begins.⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
The University of Trans-Disciplinary Health Sciences and Technology (TDU) marked a distinguished presence at the 𝟑𝐫𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐘𝐔𝐒𝐇 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 & 𝐄𝐱𝐡𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, held in Dubai from February 15 - 17, 2026, with one of the largest institutional representations at the global gathering.⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
In the plenary session, Prof. Darshan Shankar delivered a compelling address titled “From Tradition to Transformation: The Evolving Role of AYUSH in Integrative Medicine.” His talk articulated a clear vision for advancing integrative healthcare, outlining strategic steps to strengthen the role of AYUSH systems and emphasizing the importance of rigorous scientific translation in bringing traditional knowledge into contemporary clinical relevance.⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
Dr. Ashwini Godbole played a pivotal leadership role at the conference. She moderated the plenary session on “Ayurveda in Integrative Psychiatry: Global Perspectives, Mental Health Innovations and Evidence-based Therapeutics,” facilitating dialogue at the intersection of classical wisdom and modern mental health practice. She also moderated the International Delegate Assembly, where global representatives engaged in thoughtful discussions on policy frameworks, regional achievements, and the evolving challenges in AYUSH practice across diverse geographies.⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
TDU faculty members and scholars actively contributed through poster and oral presentations, with their research drawing strong appreciation from international delegates. The depth, methodological rigor, and translational relevance of the work presented reflected TDU’s commitment to advancing knowledge systems through research excellence.⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
We are especially proud to share that Prasanna Simha, PhD scholar under the guidance of Dr. Ashwini Godbole, received the 𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 for presenting his doctoral research on understanding the rationale behind the design and preparation of Ksheerabala 101- a formulation widely used in managing neurodegenerative disorders - studied using C. elegans models.⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
TDU’s participation at the conference reaffirmed its role in shaping global conversations on integrative healthcare - where scholarship, policy, and practice converge.⁣⁣⁣⁣

A wonderful morning was spent exploring the TDU campus through a guided medicinal plant walk, where 17 participants came together to slow down, observe the plants growing around them, and engage with their stories, ecological roles, and traditional knowledge.

The walk encouraged curiosity, conversation, and close observation - inviting participants to see familiar plants in new ways and build a deeper connection with the landscapes they move through every day. The enthusiasm, thoughtful questions, and shared experiences made the walk especially meaningful.

Participants described the experience as “immersive,” “interesting and fun,” and appreciated the opportunity to learn in an informal and interactive setting. Several shared how refreshing it was to revisit plants they encounter daily with a new perspective, while others highlighted the joy of meeting people from diverse backgrounds brought together by a shared interest in nature.

One participant reflected, “I’ll never look at common plants the same way again,” while another noted how encouraging it was to see such walks becoming a regular activity at TDU. Many also appreciated the welcoming atmosphere and the passion and enthusiasm that shaped the morning’s conversations.

We thank everyone who joined us and contributed to making the walk such a lively and engaging experience. We look forward to welcoming you again for future walks and continuing these shared explorations with plants.

The future of food systems can be shaped by young people who are willing to think differently, learn continuously and work together across boundaries.

The India Food Systems Youth Network brings together students from across disciplines who are passionate about how food is produced, distributed and consumed in India. It is a space for learning, sharing and doing.

If you’re a university student interested in contributing to a more sustainable and equitable food future, you can step in too. Join the upcoming Youth Engagement Session on 16th February 2026 and explore how you can get involved.

Anemia prevention is not just awareness, it’s relationships, conversations, and everyday action.

Under the RIST Project, the Community Health Department is working to reduce the anemia burden in the Nilgiris and Wayanad districts by identifying local NGOs and working closely with them to reach tribal and rural communities.

Through these partnerships, we engage community health workers, enable shared learning, and promote culturally rooted food knowledge. From training rooms to doorsteps, each dialogue brings us one step closer to stronger, healthier communities.

Because lasting change doesn’t happen in a day, it grows through trust.
