🎄 Christmas Event

Yesterday, at Aula 10 in Via Salvecchio, we held our Christmas Event for the Planning and Management of Tourism Systems degree course. It was a valuable moment of exchange, reflection, and growth.

We had the pleasure of presenting the results of the Tourism Think Tank and hearing the experiences and contributions from second-year students. It was an excellent opportunity to discuss key tourism issues and explore how we can make the sector more accessible for everyone.

A special thanks goes to our guests from the Associazione Disabili Bergamaschi: your participation and commitment were essential in enriching the event and fueling the conversation about inclusive and sustainable tourism.

✨ Warm wishes for a Merry Christmas and a happy 2026 to all! May the new year bring new opportunities for collaboration, growth, and change in our field.

🎤 The final day of the BIP programme began with the group project presentations, where each team shared the results of their work with the faculty and received a concluding round of feedback. It marked the closing phase of the collaborative efforts developed over the week.

The programme then concluded with a final reflection on the week’s activities, followed by a Farewell Fika featuring Swedish specialities. It offered a shared moment to round off the experience and acknowledge the work accomplished together.

💻 Yesterday was fully dedicated to group work, with teams continuing their project activities with commitment and strong collaboration.

The morning began at 9:00 with group sessions and an online meeting with the Älvdalen–Idre Municipality, where participants had the opportunity to explore key aspects of managing a vast and complex territory, including the areas of Idre and Grövelsjön.

In the afternoon, the groups continued their work, focusing on synthesizing their findings and preparing materials for the final presentations. Several teachers were available for consultation and methodological support.

An intense and productive day, marked by international cooperation and the shared construction of knowledge.

✨ Our third day took us across beautiful landscapes and into the heart of local development initiatives.

We started early with our trip from Trysil to Engerdal, where we had the opportunity to meet representatives from Engerdal Municipality and Destination Engerdal. This insightful session gave us a closer look at how the region works with tourism, community engagement, and sustainable development.

In the afternoon, we continued our journey to Idre for a meeting with Idre Fjäll. Here, we were welcomed by Maria Cutova, who shared valuable perspectives on event management, group activities, and building stronger community connections through tourism.

We ended the day with our return trip to Borlänge - tired but inspired by everything we learned and the passionate people we met along the way.

🌍 The Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) kicked off yesterday at Dalarna University, marking the beginning of an enriching international experience.

Nine UNIBG students from the PMTS and GEOU Master's Degree programmes are currently taking part in this mobility week, engaging with peers and faculty from partner universities.

The day opened with a welcome session and introductory remarks, followed by a series of thought-provoking guest lectures focusing on mountain destinations, cultural innovation, and sustainability challenges in alpine contexts. Students then presented the preliminary outcomes of their group work, receiving constructive feedback from the international teaching team.

A shared lunch buffet offered an informal opportunity to connect with fellow participants, while the afternoon was dedicated to collaborative project development. The day concluded with a traditional Jul Fika, giving students the chance to experience a Swedish Christmas atmosphere through local pastries, glögg, and social activities.

This first day set a positive and inspiring tone for the entire week, combining academic insight, cultural exchange, and community building.

🌍 Field Trip on Accessibility for All – Tourism Think

On Wednesday, students from the Tourism Think Tank of the Master’s Degree in Planning and Management of Tourism Systems at the Università degli studi di Bergamo took part in a field trip dedicated to the theme of accessibility for all, organized within the framework of the Tavolo del Turismo Accessibile.

The activity began with an introductory session led by Claudio Tombolini, President of the Associazione Disabili Bergamaschi (ADB), followed by an exploratory walk through Città Alta. Guided by ADB members Adriana, Pierangela, and Giovanna, participants explored and discussed physical and perceptual barriers in the urban environment, reflecting on how accessibility can be integrated into urban and tourism planning.

We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to share this experience and to learn directly from those who engage daily with issues of accessibility and inclusion.
A heartfelt thank you to all the people and organizations that made this initiative possible — and especially to the Associazione Disabili Bergamaschi for their invaluable collaboration, openness, and generosity.

📚 Today we had a very inspiring visit focused on the management and accessibility of cultural heritage. The event included a presentation by Dott. Claudio Cecchinelli from the Municipality of Bergamo on the Management Plan for the site “Venetian Defense Works between the 16th and 17th Centuries: State from Land – State from West Sea,” followed by a session with Prof. Cinzia Spinzi from the University of Bergamo on heritage and accessibility, illustrated through a visit to Sant’Andrea’s Church.

A special thanks to Don Giovanni Gusmini for welcoming us so warmly in both the Church of Sant’Andrea and the theatre, making the experience even more memorable.

👉🏻 As part of the Think Tank “Heritage and Tourism for All”, today’s meeting offered a profound reflection on how accessibility can transform our understanding of places and the ways we engage with them.

Elena Bougleux (University of Bergamo) opened the discussion with her talk on "Accessible Tourism and Seescapes", exploring the cultural and perceptive dimensions of accessibility and its role in shaping meaningful experiences. Andrea Pozzi (University of Bergamo) followed with "Accessible Tourism in the Balearic Islands", presenting concrete examples and insights into inclusive tourism practices.

The session highlighted accessibility not simply as a functional aspect of tourism, but as a catalyst for reimagining heritage, participation, and the shared value of places.

On October 1st, the Welcome Day for first-year PMTS students took place alongside the first meeting of the Tourism Think Tank.

📚 The event opened with institutional greetings and an introduction to the project by Cinzia Spinzi (University of Bergamo), followed by Federica Burini (University of Bergamo), who presented Bergamo as an international laboratory for the analysis of tangible and intangible heritage for multi-level tourism governance.
Gloria Cornolti (Province of Bergamo) then illustrated the “Tavolo del turismo accessibile e inclusivo”, a strategy promoted by the Province of Bergamo.

✨️ It was an inspiring start to the new academic year, combining learning, collaboration, and forward-looking ideas in tourism.
