Water Harvesting Lab - UNIFI : Characterizing and Quantifying Groundwater Recharge (GWR) in Data-Scarce and Semi-Arid Regions of North Africa: Multi-Method Approaches and Water Resource Implications.
March 9th, 2026, 16:00 CET – Room C, Scuola di Agraria – Università di Firenze, and online.
The seminar will be held by El Farchouni Abderrahman, PhD student in cotutelle between the IWRI- International Water Research Institute, UM6P - Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, Morocco, and the Department of Agriculture, Food, Environment and Forestry (DAGRI UNIFI), Università degli Studi di Firenze
It will present research on quantifying groundwater recharge in North Africa’s semi-arid regions. Using the High Atlas as a case study, it explores mountain–plain connectivity, climate variability, and integrated methods—remote sensing, geophysics, tracers, and modelling—to support sustainable groundwater management.
