Eurobarometer 2013 has showe
d that access to theatre have suffered from 2007 to 2013 a 4% decline from 32% to 28%. Notwithstanding the economic crisis, main cause of such low attendance have been identified in a ‘lack of interest’, particularly prevalent among young people (15-24 aged). In Romania the ‘lack of choice’ or the ‘low quality of the activities’ are particularly relevant. The project aims at:
1. adopting an innovative audience building strategy: playwriting and staging will enhance audience’s sensorial perception of the shows and intensify audience’s critical awareness on the live experience.
2. enhancing youths’ involvement not only as potential consumers, but also as creators and critics of contemporary culture, promoting their own creative talent in co-writing the drama;
3. creating new forms of European collaboration between cultural and creative operators and the higher education system. Expected results are:
1. Innovative performances in three different countries;
2. Implementation of a transnational Observation-centre that will measure impact of theatre on young people;
3. Guidelines for the implementation of similar centres and other audience development strategies.
