Riviviamo i momenti più belli del Concerto per il Baccalaureato in Direzione di Coro di ieri sera alla Chiesa Abbaziale!

Sotto la guida del M° Walter Marzilli, le candidate Sr. Priscila, Sr. Sara e Sr. Li Cuicui hanno diretto I Cantori del PIMS, accompagnate da Francesco Cacioni (organo) e Olga Caiazza (pianoforte). Un programma ricco e vario che ha toccato il cuore di tutti i presenti, spaziando da Mozart a Lauridsen.

Complimenti di cuore alle nostre sorelle per questo bellissimo traguardo!👏🎶



Let’s relive the highlights of last night’s Choral Conducting Baccalaureate Concert at the Abbey Church!

Under the guidance of Maestro Walter Marzilli, the candidates Sr Priscila, Sr Sara and Sr Li Cuicui conducted I Cantori del PIMS, accompanied by Francesco Cacioni (organ) and Olga Caiazza (piano). A rich and varied programme that touched the hearts of everyone present, ranging from Mozart to Lauridsen.

🎓Grande giornata accademica al PIMS!

Il 18 maggio, presieduto dal Preside P. Robert Mehlhart OP, si è svolto un importante atto accademico dedicato al Canto Gregoriano, con la discussione di tre tesi.

I lavori si sono aperti con i due Dottorati:
📜Don Tran Van Da ha presentato la tesi sui toni VIET HOA sviluppati dal canto gregoriano e la loro applicazione nella Liturgia delle Ore (Relatore: Prof. Dr. F. K. Prassl; Co-Relatore: Prof. M. Manganelli).

📜Fr. Marko Hrgota OFM ha discusso la tesi sulla parola "ET" nel Graduale del Codice Einsiedeln 121, analizzandone l'interpretazione patristica, liturgica e semiologica (Relatore: Prof. Dr. F. K. Prassl).

A seguire, per la Licenza:
📜Fr. Matteo Ferraldeschi OFM ha proposto una nuova edizione aucta et emendata del Graduale Simplex (Relatore: Prof. Dr. F. K. Prassl).

Presenti i docenti I. Behrendt, N. Tangari, M. Manganelli e S. Presciuttini (Vicepreside). Ha onorato l'evento S.E. Mons. Vittorio Viola, Segretario del Dicastero per il Culto Divino.

🎓A significant academic day at the PIMS!

On 18 May, presided over by the Rector, Fr Robert Mehlhart OP, an important academic event dedicated to Gregorian chant took place, featuring the defence of three theses.

The proceedings began with the two doctoral theses:
📜Don Tran Van Da presented his thesis on the VIET HOA tones developed from Gregorian chant and their application in the Liturgy of the Hours (Supervisor: Prof. Dr. F. K. Prassl; Co-Supervisor: Prof. M. Manganelli).

📜Fr. Marko Hrgota OFM discussed his thesis on the word “ET” in the Gradual of the Einsiedeln Codex 121, analysing its patristic, liturgical and semiological interpretation (Supervisor: Prof. Dr. F. K. Prassl).

Following this, for the Licentiate:
📜Fr. Matteo Ferraldeschi OFM presented a new, expanded and revised edition of the Graduale Simplex (Supervisor: Prof. Dr. F. K. Prassl).

Present were the lecturers I. Behrendt, N. Tangari, M. Manganelli and S. Presciuttini (Vice-Rector). The event was honoured by the presence of His Excellency Monsignor Vittorio Viola, Secretary of the Dicastery for Divine Worship.

Il 6 maggio nella splendida Basilica di Sant'Apollinare un evento di rara intensità: lo "Stabat Mater" di Giovanni Battista Pergolesi nella versione viennese, elaborazione che trasfigura l'originale cameristico in un affresco sonoro di più ampia solennità senza smarrirne l’intima spiritualità.

Straordinari gli interpreti coinvolti, sotto la direzione di Walter Marzilli e con la guida vocale di Maria Grazia Schiavo: il mezzosoprano Marta Pacifici, il tenore Derlis González Morel e il baritono Kevin Malcolm Cribb, accompagnati dall'Orchestra Nova Resonantia, con Stefano Pavetti al basso continuo e il Coro Polifonico del PIMS.👏

Tra le più significative iniziative per le celebrazioni dell'anno pergolesiano, quella del PIMS, presieduto da P. Robert Mehlhart, ha reso omaggio a una pagina capace di attraversare epoche e contesti differenti, coniugando ricerca musicologica e intensità interpretativa.

A coronamento della serata, il bis "Prayer of Peace" di Juan Barceló: un momento di profonda condivisione tra la grande tradizione e la creatività del presente. 👏



On 6 May, in the sublime Basilica of Sant’Apollinare, an event of rare intensity: Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s "Stabat Mater" in the Viennese version, an arrangement that transforms the original chamber work into a sonic fresco of greater solemnity without losing its intimate spirituality.

The performers involved were extraordinary, under the baton of Walter Marzilli and with vocal coaching by Maria Grazia Schiavo: mezzo-soprano Marta Pacifici, tenor Derlis González Morel and baritone Kevin Malcolm Cribb, accompanied by the Nova Resonantia Orchestra, with Stefano Pavetti on the basso continuo and the PIMS Polyphonic Choir.👏

Among the most significant initiatives for the celebrations of the Pergolesi Year, that of the PIMS, chaired by Fr Robert Mehlhart, paid tribute to a work capable of transcending different eras and contexts, combining musicological research with interpretative intensity.

The evening was crowned by an encore of Juan Barceló’s "Prayer of Peace": a moment of profound harmony between the great tradition and the creativity of the present.👏

Ieri abbiamo vissuto una giornata speciale. I nostri ospiti hanno potuto prendere parte a momenti di presentazione, assistere a lezioni aperte e vivere da vicino l’esperienza formativa del PIMS.

30 aprile, nella nostra Sala Accademica — Una serata all'insegna della grande musica con il Maestro Antonio Russo, docente di pianoforte al PIMS. 🎹

Il pubblico è stato accompagnato in un viaggio musicale di altissimo profilo: dal rigore del classicismo di Clementi al virtuosismo di Rachmaninov, passando per le atmosfere liriche di Mendelssohn e Chopin. 👏

La serata è stata introdotta dal saluto istituzionale del Preside, P. Robert Mehlhart OP.



30 April, in our Academic Hall — An evening of great music with Maestro Antonio Russo, piano teacher at PIMS. 🎹

The audience was taken on a musical journey of the highest calibre: from the rigour of Clementi’s classical style to the virtuosity of Rachmaninov, via the lyrical atmospheres of Mendelssohn and Chopin.👏

The evening began with an opening address by the Rector, Fr Robert Mehlhart OP.
