All members of the UTokyo Soaring Club actually get to fly, as pilots of a glider!
The gliders are not powered by an engine.
Instead, they are launched into the air by coiling a cable attached to a mechanical device called a winch.
And the meticulously engineered airframes soar gently into the sky.

The UTokyo Soaring Club has a proven track record of performing well in competitions.
Who knows, they might be soaring spectacularly in the skies above you today!

このグライダー、実はエンジンを積んでいません。

【】UTokyo Karate Team demonstration at the 99th May Festival
The Karate Team of UTokyo’s Athletic Foundation boasts a long history and tradition dating back more than 100 years. 🥋✨
Although many members started out as novices when they joined the team, their skills have improved dramatically, reaching a high level thanks to effective training methods, guidance on technique from alumni members, as well as by implementing tactics with a brainy twist.
The UTokyo karateka have proved their abilities, with the men winning the title and the women making it to the quarterfinals in their respective kumite (combat) category group contest, at the karate competition among public universities in 2025.
Unfortunately, the team’s demonstration at this year’s May Festival was cut short, due to the suspension of festivities on the first day of the weekend event. But we hope there’ll be another opportunity for people to enjoy the team’s full performance of the martial art.

創立100年を超える歴史と伝統を誇る、東京大学運動会空手部🥋✨
部員の多くは大学から空手を始めた初心者ですが、効果的な練習方法やOB・OGによる技術指導、頭脳派の戦術実践により、その技量は高いレベルに達しています。
2025年の国公立大学大会では、男子団体組手の部で優勝を果たし、女子団体組手の部ではベスト8に入るなど男女ともに実力は折り紙付きです。
五月祭の大演武会は、一日目の全企画中止によりごく一部の披露に留まりましたが、また別の機会にぜひご覧ください。

【】The University of Tokyo Baseball Club

The 2026 spring season drew to a close for the intercollegiate Tokyo Big6 Baseball League.

For the first time in nine years, the UTokyo Baseball Club won a best-of-three series against an opponent and was awarded a point, used by the league to rank the teams, in a two-game sweep against powerhouse Hosei University. Also, earlier in the season, the UTokyo squad tied a game with perennial heavyweight Waseda University.

The Tokyo Big6 Baseball League is highly competitive, consisting of players who go on to play professionally. So, it is quite a feat for a ball club like UTokyo’s, which doesn’t recruit athletes like its competitors, to chalk up a point in a serial win against an opponent. Due to its accomplishments this spring, expectations are running high for the club’s continued success in the autumn season. Please join us in rooting for the team. Go UTokyo Nine!

2026年の東京六大学野球・春季リーグ戦が閉幕しました。

東大硬式野球部は強豪・法政大学から2017年秋以来9年ぶりとなる「勝ち点（同じ相手との一連の対戦で先に2勝したチームに与えられるポイント）」を獲得！さらに、同じく強豪の早稲田大学を相手に引き分けに持ち込むなど、素晴らしい活躍を見せました。

東京六大学野球は、将来プロ入りを果たすような精鋭が集う極めてハイレベルな世界です。スポーツ推薦枠がない東大にとって勝ち点を挙げることは決して平坦な道のりではありませんでした。その環境で強豪から勝ち点を掴み取り実力を証明した東大ナイン。秋季リーグ戦でのさらなる活躍に今から期待が高まります！引き続き応援をよろしくお願いします。

Introducing UTokyo original Lunch Pack! 🍞
As part of the UTokyo 150th Anniversary Project, a UTokyo original Lunch Pack is born through a collaboration between the University of Tokyo and Yamazaki Baking Co., Ltd., maker of the popular sandwich pocket series.
On May 8, a Lunch Pack tasting event took place at UTokyo, in which the refreshing taste of the sandwich cream fillings, reminiscent of ramune lemon-lime-flavored soda and lemon fruit, lit up participants’ faces with a smile. ✨

The 99th May Festival will take place for two days from Saturday, May 16–Sunday, May 17, on the Hongo and Yayoi Campuses.

This year’s theme is “When Something Finds Its Name.”

We asked members of the May Festival Standing Committee about the highlights and other features of the university festival.

Architecture students from three national universities in Tokyo—UTokyo, Institute of Science Tokyo and Tokyo University of the Arts—presented their graduation thesis projects at the 2025 Diploma Design Projects Joint Review held on March 15, 2026, at UTokyo. The works were selected for a joint critique by a jury of experts.

The Athletic Foundation of the University of Tokyo is displaying a set of three large posters at Shibuya Station of the Keio Inokashira Line, for a limited time through April 26.

The posters, made possible thanks to a crowdfunding campaign to support UTokyo’s athletic clubs, are on display on the platform of the rail line, which serves the Komaba Campus.
