Our second visit in this year’s 1-Day Company Visit Program was to Nuvoton Technology Corporation Japan in Nagaokakyo, Kyoto.

During the visit, students had the valuable opportunity to hear directly from three NAIST alumni about their actual work, career paths, and experiences at the company.

Through an active Q&A session, students asked a wide range of questions and deepened their understanding of working in Japan’s semiconductor industry.

It was a meaningful and insightful visit for everyone involved.

Our sincere thanks to the Nuvoton Technology Japan team and the NAIST alumni for warmly welcoming us and sharing their time and experiences!

NAIST Career Services Office - 奈良先端大キャリア支援室 has launched this year’s 1-Day Company Visit Program!

From summer through autumn, we will visit companies in a wide range of research and technology fields, mainly in the Kansai region, providing international students with opportunities to explore industries and career paths in Japan.

For our first visit, five international students visited TÜV Rheinland Japan’s Kansai Technology Assessment Center (KTAC) in Osaka.

Through presentations on cybersecurity, mobility, and product safety, as well as a laboratory tour, the students gained valuable insights into the company’s testing and certification services.

Our sincere thanks to everyone at TÜV Rheinland Japan for warmly welcoming us and providing such an informative and inspiring experience!

NAIST Career Services Office - 奈良先端大キャリア支援室 , career support goes beyond job-hunting skills and technical seminars.

Stress management and well-being are also important parts of supporting students throughout their graduate school and career journeys.

In our recent Mental Energy Management Workshop, students learned how to recognize their own stress responses, identify early signs of stress, and develop practical coping strategies for research, job hunting, and daily graduate school life.

The workshop was offered in both Japanese and English, bringing together international and Japanese students.

We’re pleased to share the report from the Global Talent Networking Event 2026, co-hosted by NAIST and The University of Osaka on May 30.

This week, NAIST Career Services Office - 奈良先端大キャリア支援室 held a workshop for international students at NAIST on writing Japanese-style resumes and application forms.

Many students already have experience writing CVs or resumes.
In the workshop, we explored the differences between Japanese resumes and international CVs, and discussed how existing content can be adapted rather than rewritten from scratch.

Research experience, technical skills, projects, and extracurricular activities are valuable in both formats. However, Japanese employers often look for the story behind the experience:

Why did you do it?
What did you learn?
How can you apply it in the workplace?

Helping students translate their experiences across different job markets is an important part of career development.

"Networking is difficult enough. Doing it in a second language can feel even more challenging."

Last week, I facilitated a workshop for international master's and doctoral students in preparation for an upcoming networking event with companies.

Rather than focusing on lectures, we created a relaxed and interactive space where students could practice and gain confidence through conversation.

Topics included:
✅ The basics of self-introduction
✅ Thinking about how you want to be remembered
✅ Communicating your strengths and interests
✅ Pair-work and practice activities to turn ideas into action

What impressed me most was seeing students support one another, refine their messages, and gradually become more confident in expressing themselves.

Networking is not about having perfect language skills.
It is about building connections, showing curiosity, and sharing your story.

I am looking forward to seeing how these students apply what they practiced at the networking event this week.

NAIST Career Services Office - 奈良先端大キャリア支援室 has started offering a variety of career-related programs for our new international graduate students at Nara Institute of Science and Technology.

Recently, we held sessions on:
• “Thinking About Career Design”
• “Understanding the Japanese Job Hunting Timeline”

At the very beginning of graduate school, we believe it is important not only to think about job hunting, but also to step back and reflect on:

Why did I choose this path?
What kind of professional do I want to become?
How do I want to connect my research with society?

By connecting practical career knowledge with deeper self-reflection, we hope to support students in designing their own career paths with a broader perspective.

Career development is not only about finding a job, it is also about understanding how our experiences shape our future and identity.
