Its time for our CSA (community shared agriculture) sign up. This year we will be offering shares in the following items: turkeys, ducks, chickens, rabbit, eggs, honey and birch syrup.
If interested, please let us know how much you would like of each item. Honey comes in quart size jars for the CSA. Once you have placed your order, I will be able to provide an itemized invoice through Paypal. We use Paypal to process our payments which keeps things easier on our end.
First payment is due 2 weeks after receipt of invoice. Final payment is due June 1st. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for supporting a local small farmer in interior Alaska

These girls are our survivors. They survived on Friday a coordinated attack from two foxes at the same time. Sadly, we lost some of our most loyal and older chickens that were more or less our pets. They didn’t lay as much in their older years but we kept them because they were such good girls. In October we had 19 hens and one female turkey. Now we have 10 hens. Toriel and Rayne you will be missed.

What a productive weekend !!! White chocolate raspberry jam made, house is relatively clean, all things that have been broken are almost fixed, bookkeeping done, and even had a tiny bit of time for R&R.

We’ve lived here now going on double digits and it still never gets old. Days like today, the mundane chores, the school work getting caught up, checking for eggs, cleaning up and preparing for the week, it’s all magical and somehow peaceful here.

As many know, when I’m not on jury duty mode, I work from home in military and government travel. I’ll admit I’m loving some of the new fun things I’ve added to my shelves. Between a sparkling snow globe that reminds me of Christmas cheer and my book nooks that I put together myself.

Video FINALLY UP!!! Annnnnddd I get attacked by a falling tree!!!

We typically don’t like taking trees down this time of year but our summer had almost no time to get it done and we had birds and bees to contend with. That ...

My son and I just came across a word recently. I could’ve sworn there was a German word to describe it, but no. It’s Japanese. Shin-shin(pronounced sheen sheen) It describes the quiet sound of snow falling. If you’ve ever lived in a snowy area you’ll know what that sounds like. As a child I remember playing in the snow and recognizing that exact sound. The absence of all other sounds than the sound of snow, peacefully falling.
