Our passive acoustic monitoring study in Wakasa Bay (Obama) and Aso Bay (Tsushima), along the Sea of Japan coast, has been published in Marine Mammal Science. It reports the occurrence and vocal characteristics of small odontocetes.

The first comparative study analyzing telomere length and oxidative stress across 12 captive marine mammal species using a standardized method has been published.
This work was conducted as a collaborative research project with Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium, KYOTO AQUARIUM, Osaka Aquarium KAIYUKAN, Toba Aquarium, Nagoya University, and Meijo University.

大阪湾において、2種のイルカ類の鳴音を検出し、音響的に来遊を確認した私たちの研究が、国際学術誌 Aquatic Mammals に掲載されました。
本研究では、人口１０００万人超を抱える大阪湾を対象に、イルカ類の出現状況を整理し、産業活動とどのように共存し得るのか、大阪湾は「里海」になりうるのかを考察しています。

Our study, which acoustically detected the presence of two dolphin/porpoise species in Osaka Bay, has been published in the international journal, Aquatic Mammals.
Focusing on Osaka Bay, a highly urbanized coastal area with a population of over 10 million, this study summarizes the occurrence of dolphins and discusses how they may coexist with intensive industrial activities, asking whether Osaka Bay could function as a “Satoumi,” where human activities and marine ecosystems coexist.

スズキ（Japanese seabass）の河川利用および成長に関する論文がFisheries Researchに掲載されました。河川を利用することはスズキの成長に良い、または中立で（少なくとも悪影響はなく）、高緯度（北）の地域ほどその効果は小さくなりました。高緯度（北）に生息するスズキは成長は遅いものの、より大きな体に育つ傾向があることがわかりました。
Proud of our paper just published in Fisheries Research! Using rivers was found to have a positive—or at least not negative—effect on the growth of Japanese seabass, although this effect was smaller at higher (northern) latitudes. Additionally, seabass inhabiting higher latitudes tended to grow more slowly but ultimately reached larger body sizes. Available below:
