7/24 Greet with guests from France🇫🇷

This is Rin!!
I showed them my local place which is Iwakura jisso-in and Kibune shrine! It was the first time to greet on my own for ages, it was kind of a fresh experience. We shared about our culture, especially since I am learning about France and French as a language, it made me motivated to learn more 😉 I was surprised when they didn’t have an umbrella even though the forecast was literally heavy rainy. Fortunately, we could avoid the heavy rain. I’ve also got souvenirs from their country! It was an honor and I hope I will meet up with them again in France!!

6/18 Greet with the guests from Australia🇦🇺

This is Mana!
I had the pleasure of greeting a family from Australia together with Kagari-san. We visited Hōnen-in Temple, Ginkaku-ji Temple, and Nishiki Market. When we gathered around noon, the weather was rainy, but as time went by, the weather got better and better. ☺️

At Hōnen-in Temple, they were impressed by the beautiful greenery and took lots of photos. At Ginkaku-ji Temple, they remarked on how wonderful the serene atmosphere was. For lunch, we had sushi, which the whole family loves! They were very curious about the seafood in the tank in front of them 😂 They found it challenging to use chopsticks while eating. After that, we took a bus to Nishiki Market! After strolling around, we enjoyed some desserts 😊 Since the daughters love shopping, we guided them to Daimaru Department Store, where we parted ways.

I was initially nervous about speaking in English, but the family was very kind, and with Kagari-san's support, I had a great time and it was a wonderful experience!

5/17 Greet with guests from the US🇺🇸

We met a student studying political science at an American university and his mother! It turns out they have other sons and daughters as well, but this time it was just the two of them. They are such a close family, it was heartwarming ☺️

We had a great time at Kennin-ji Temple, eating matcha tiramisu at the Matcha House, and having lots of conversations🍵✨The mother really wanted to try the matcha tiramisu, so she quickly find the place and get in😆

As a souvenir, they gave me a tote bag from a university in Boston! It was really fulfilling greet 🍀

5/26 Greet with guest from France 🇫🇷

Hello! This is Kagari!
She told me she wanted to visit not touristy place, so I chose Kitano-tenmangu Shrine and Shimogamo Shrine!!

First we went to a famous restaurant where you can eat yuba donburi!!! It was really good and she liked it!!

She likes camera and she often took pictures at Kitano-tenmangu Shrine📸 Also, since she had her own goshuin book, she was happy to receive a stamp!! When she saw people who wore kimono, she said they were really beautiful 👘

At Shimogamo Shrine, we did mizu mikuji!! She really enjoyed Japanese unique culture‼︎ After that we went to restaurants to eat warabi mochi because she was interested in it!!

It was the longest Greet I have ever had!!! It was about 5 hours!!! It was a great opportunity to exchange our cultures😊

We are trying to catch up…

5/4 Greet with guests from Australia!

They were from Melbourne, Australia! It was a sunny day and Golden Week, so there were so many people. Many of them were wearing kimonos and many times they said "So beautiful ! but they had no desire to try it for themselves‼︎ We happened to stop by a small shrine and saw a cat🐱

I was worried that they might be tired because we walked a lot, but I was relieved to see that they were a healthy couple who walked 20,000 steps every day!
He is a poet and a university professor and he is going to send a book to my address, so I am very excited 📚It was a great experience!✨

We visited Yasaka-Shirine, Chionin-Temple, ninenzaka-area and Ginkakuji-temple😊The guests showed interest in architectures in Kyoto, so we went to many places anyway!

We met at their hotel near Kyoto station and went to the Gion area🚃

After visiting Yasaka-Shrine and Chionin-temple,we went to a tea ceremony room named “nagomi”, because the guests hoped that in advance🍵It’s located in Ninenzaka and all of the explanations were done in English. We could learn about the tea room, tea tools and tea history as well👍

We had an obento with Japanese omelet and seasoned rice🍱Although we dropped in the shop, it was sooo nice!

Also, we took a bus for Ginkakuji-temple. We gave up visiting Nanzenji-temple because its last admission time was approaching💦Lastly, I saw off the guests at the beginning of the philosopher's path🌿
Thank you for your time and hope you have a safe flight⭐️

4/30. Greet with guests from Italy 🇮🇹

I guided a married couple from Italy. It was kinda cold in the morning, but by noon, it had warmed up nicely☀️

We met at a cafe called "Roji Usagi" and had breakfast together!! Unfortunately, they couldn't eat Japanese foods with soy sauce and dashi because of their gluten and oats restrictions. They chose salmon and rice for their breakfast, and they seemed very satisfied!! 🍚 We sat in a tatami room, and they told me that sitting “seiza” style was quite difficult for them‼︎

Since they like walking, we toured Kennin-ji Temple, Yasui Konpira-gu Shrine (known for breaking relationships), Higashiyama, and Gion!! At Kennin-ji Temple, they were interested in Japan's culture of replication when they saw replicas of the wind god and thunder god folding screens! At the shrine, they went through the "relationship-breaking" and "relationship-building" stones!🪨

This was actually my first Greet!! Communicating in English was more challenging than I had imagined, but it was a great experience!!😊

Zen meditation and Tea Ceremony in Sanshoji-temple!!

Hello everyone, how are you spending time during the quarantine ?
Sadly we can’t guide you at the moment, but we are working hard to get lots of knowledge before seeing and guiding you :))

This time, we went to Sanshoji-temple to learn about Zazen and Tea ceremony in Nara prefecture.
First of all, when we do Zazen, we have to prepare our bodies by adjusting our posture and breathing.
Then we have to correct our mind.
This was really hard, but these are important things in Zen meditation.

After that we learned about “Sado”.
We call the Japanese tea ceremony “Sado”,
It’s a Japanese traditional culture.
We are serving and having tea in Sado.
There are lots of detailed manners there, how to stand up, how to walk and so on.
Every slight action have a thoughtful meaning.
I couldn’t learn everything, but I now know that Sado is based on Japanese spirit of hospitality.

If you want to know more about Zazen, please click the link below!

Hope to see you soon!
Please take care of yourself.
