Tohoku University held its Spring 2026 Entrance Ceremony on April 3, 2026, at Xebio Arena Sendai, welcoming 2,514 undergraduate students and 2,685 graduate students to its academic community.
New students gathered with friends and family to take photographs, marking the start of their journey as members of Tohoku University.

The Bangladeshi Community at Tohoku University (BCTU) in Sendai-Japan, proudly organized a beautiful Iftar party, bringing together the Muslim community during the blessed month of Ramadan.

Ramadan is a holy month for Muslims around the world — a time of fasting, prayer, self-reflection, patience, and compassion. From dawn to sunset, Muslims abstain from food and drink, strengthening their spiritual connection with almighty Allah and deepening their sense of empathy for those in need. Iftar, the meal to break the fast at sunset, is not just about food — it is about unity, gratitude, and togetherness.
In the peaceful city of Sendai, this gathering became more than just an event. It was a heartfelt moment of community bonding where students, families, and friends shared traditional foods, warm conversations, and the joy of Ramadan. Being far from home, such initiatives help international students and residents feel a sense of belonging and spiritual comfort.

May this holy month of Ramadan bring peace, mercy, and countless blessings to everyone. Ramadan Mubarak to all!

আজ ২১শে ফেব্রুয়ারি মহান শহীদ দিবস এবং আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস। ১৯৫২ সালের এই দিনে বাংলা ভাষাকে রাষ্ট্রভাষা হিসেবে প্রতিষ্ঠার জন্য যারা সর্বোচ্চ ত্যাগ স্বীকার করেছেন আমরা তাদের গভীর শ্রদ্ধার সাথে স্মরণ করছি। তোহোকু বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় বাংলাদেশী কমিউনিটি সেই বীরদের প্রতি বিনম্র শ্রদ্ধা জ্ঞাপন করছে যারা আমাদের ভাষাগত অধিকার নিশ্চিত করেছেন।
আসুন আমরা আমাদের মাতৃভাষার মর্যাদা সমুন্নত রাখি এবং দেশের স্বার্থে নিজেদের নিয়োজিত করি।

[তোহোকু বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় বাংলাদেশ কমিউনিটির উদ্যোগে মহান বিজয় দিবস উদযাপন/Celebration of Victory Day by the Bangladesh Community at Tohoku University ]

জাপানের অন্যতম শীর্ষ প্রতিষ্ঠান তোহোকু বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে গতকাল ১৬ই ডিসেম্বর ২০২৫ তারিখে অত্যন্ত ভাবগাম্ভীর্য ও উৎসাহ-উদ্দীপনার মধ্য দিয়ে পালিত হলো মহান বিজয় দিবস। প্রবাসের মাটিতে থেকেও হৃদয়ে লালিত দেশপ্রেমের টানে তোহোকু ইউনিভার্সিটি বাংলাদেশ কমিউনিটি এই বিশেষ দিনটি উদযাপনের আয়োজন করে।
অনুষ্ঠানের সূচনা হয় সমবেত কণ্ঠে জাতীয় সংগীত পরিবেশনের মাধ্যমে, যা উপস্থিত সকলের মনে এক গভীর আবেগ ও দেশাত্মবোধের সঞ্চার করে। পরবর্তীতে অনুষ্ঠিত আলোচনা পর্বে সকলে মহান মুক্তিযুদ্ধের স্মৃতিচারণ করেন এবং শ্রদ্ধাভরে স্মরণ করেন জাতির শ্রেষ্ঠ সন্তানদের। আলোচনায় বাংলাদেশের গৌরবোজ্জ্বল অতীত, বর্তমান প্রেক্ষাপট এবং ভবিষ্যৎ বিনির্মাণের রূপরেখা নিয়ে মতবিনিময় করা হয়। বক্তারা আশাবাদ ব্যক্ত করেন যে, জাপানে অর্জিত তাদের জ্ঞান, অভিজ্ঞতা ও কর্মদক্ষতাকে কাজে লাগিয়ে তাঁরা বাংলাদেশের বিভিন্ন খাতের উন্নয়নে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখবেন।
উল্লেখ্য, বর্তমানে তোহোকু বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে ৩০ জনের অধিক বাংলাদেশি শিক্ষার্থী, গবেষক ও শিক্ষক কর্মরত ও অধ্যয়নরত আছেন। দেশের বিভিন্ন স্বনামধন্য বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষকসহ এই গবেষকবৃন্দ JSPS, MEXT, JICA, এবং RISE এর মতো মর্যাদাপূর্ণ স্কলারশিপ ও ফেলোশিপের মাধ্যমে বৈশ্বিক দরবারে বাংলাদেশের প্রতিনিধিত্ব করছেন।
বিজয় দিবসের এই আয়োজনে অংশগ্রহণকারী সকলের প্রত্যয় ছিল একটাই, বিদেশের মাটিতে দেশের সুনাম অক্ষুণ্ণ রাখা এবং উন্নত বাংলাদেশ গড়ায় অবদান রাখা।

Yesterday, December 16, 2025, the Victory Day was observed with enthusiasm at Tohoku University, one of Japan's top-ranked institutions. Driven by a deep sense of patriotism even while abroad, the Bangladesh Community at Tohoku University organized this event to mark the special occasion.
The program began with a collective rendition of the National Anthem, evoking deep emotion among all present. Following this, a discussion session was held where attendees reminisced about the Liberation War and paid respectful homage to the nation's heroes. The discussion covered Bangladesh's glorious past, current context, and the roadmap for future development. Speakers expressed their optimism about utilizing the knowledge, experience, and skills acquired in Japan to play a significant role in the development of various sectors in Bangladesh.
It is worth noting that there are currently over 30 Bangladeshi students, researchers, and faculty members associated with Tohoku University. This group, which includes faculty members from renowned Bangladeshi universities, represents Bangladesh on the global stage through prestigious scholarships and fellowships such as JSPS, MEXT, JICA, RISE, and many others.
The collective resolve of all participants at this Victory Day event was to uphold the country's reputation abroad and contribute to building a developed Bangladesh.

On this proud Victory Day of Bangladesh, 16 December 2025, we remember with deep respect the supreme sacrifices of our valiant freedom fighters and martyrs who gave us an independent nation in 1971. Their courage, resilience, and love for the motherland laid the foundation of our sovereignty and national identity.

As we celebrate Victory Day, let us inspire our commitment to the ideals of the Liberation War—freedom, justice, democracy, and equality. May this day inspire us to work together for a prosperous, inclusive, and peaceful Bangladesh, guided by the spirit of unity and patriotism.
