Celebrated every year in mid-August, Obon is a time when Japanese people return to their hometowns, spend time with family, clean their ancestorsโ€™ graves, and respectfully remember those who have passed away.

In Nepal, we similarly remember and honour our ancestors during Pitri Paksha, also known as Sorha Shraddha. During G*i Jatra, we remember family members who passed away in the previous year and transform grief into collective support, courage, and a celebration of life.
