Often, the people who support us never really get to see firsthand, the impact they have in our lives.

This is why it was important for our partner, Human Development Fund (HDF) to host a donor visit at Islamic University of Kenya (IUK) yesterday.

The visit included a high-level delegation from the United States of America (USA), whose donations have helped nurture the dreams of more than 300 students at IUK.

They came with the HDF team, and we were glad to host them and let them interact with the students they support, as well as the wider IUK community.

To mark the visit, students from various backgrounds shared their rich histories and cultures, celebrating our diversity, united by faith and a shared pursuit of knowledge.

Through cuisine, literature, poetry, music, and dance, it was a beautiful display of talent, pride, and belonging.

We are forever grateful for HDF for their continued support and partnership, and wish the visiting guests a wonderful stay in the Kenya and safe travels back home.

Yesterday, we swore in the newly elected Islamic University of Kenya Student Association (IUKSA) student leaders.

The swearing in ceremony was graced by the university management, the IUKSA Electoral Commission, the outgoing and incoming student leaders, and students.

The student leaders were reminded of the responsibilities ahead of them, to serve the interests of students, and be a bridge between the university and students.

We also awarded the outgoing leadership for their great work during their tenure, the incoming leadership for winning the election, and the Electoral commission for running the election process efficiently.

Khalid Mohamed Dalal, who is the former chairperson of IUKSA, emerged the winner of this year’s election, making him the current chairperson. Khalid served one year in the last session, and will be serving the 2026-27 season alongside his cabinet.

We wish him and his team all the best as they work to transform the lives of IUK students, and IUK in general.

HAPPY MAZINGIRA DAY FROM THE ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY OF KENYA (IUK)

At the Islamic University of Kenya, environmental stewardship is part of our faith and our responsibility to future generations.

Under our Initiative, we are taking solid action for a sustainable future on and off campus:

Greening the Campus: Planting trees to create a cleaner, greener and healthier learning environment
Green Energy: Adopting solar power to reduce our carbon footprint and promote renewable energy.

Responsible Waste Management: Ensuring proper waste segregation and disposal.

You too can make a difference. Every green action counts:

1. Plant a tree.
2. Say NO to single-use plastics.
3. Switch off lights and turn off water taps when not in use.
4. Re-use and recycle.
5. Dispose of waste responsibly.

Let us work together to protect our Mazingira.

Happy Mazingira Day!

Earlier today, Our VC, Prof. Mohamed Abdinoor Dahir attended the 3rd Senior Leaders Breakfast event at Serena Hotel, Nairobi.

The breakfast, hosted by International Leadership University (ILU), was themed “Leading with Integrity in Challenging Times: A path to Peace and Prosperity.”

He would later reflect on the theme of the day with colleagues from ILU, Mr. Abdi Mohamud, CEO, Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), and the Vice Chancellor of ILU, Prof. Tim. M. Kiruhi.

Such engagements remind us that peace and prosperity are not accidental but natural fruits of ethical leadership anchored in faith, moral accountability, and steadfast integrity during trying times.

Bridging the gap between higher education and the modern workforce requires more than traditional classroom instruction, it demands intentional, future-aligned career guidance systems.

At the Islamic University of Kenya (IUK), we recognize that in today’s rapidly shifting global economy, preparing students for employability, emerging AI tools, and seamless transitions into the labor market is essential to fulfilling the true mandate of academia.

Our Dean of Students, Dr. Osman Chesula and Registrar-Academics, Mohamed Abdullahi, represented IUK at the Career Development Association of Kenya (CDAK) 3rd National Conference on Career Guidance and Development, at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development, Nairobi.

As higher education evolves, IUK remains committed to contributing to Kenya’s national career development roadmap, ensuring our graduates are not only academically grounded, but equipped with the agility, skills, and industry alignment needed to thrive in a dynamic world.
