🎉 Empowering Teachers, Transforming Classrooms!** 🎉

This week, we successfully trained 22 dedicated teachers on the ProFuturo Digital Learning Platform — from setting up classes and importing lesson content, to configuring tablets and creating their very own online assessments! 📱💻📚

We also introduced our teachers to the exciting world of Artificial Intelligence in the classroom** 🤖✨ — exploring how AI tools can support lesson planning, content creation, and personalized learning for their students.

Our teachers moved from complete beginners to confidently building and publishing digital exams, all while getting a first taste of how AI can make their teaching even more effective. A huge step toward bringing quality, curriculum-aligned (CBE) education — powered by 21st-century tools. 🌍

SUCCESSFUL DIOCESAN TEACHERS’ PILGRIMAGE AND MASS

His Lordship, Bishop John Mwandi, graced the annual Teachers’ Pilgrimage and Mass held on Sunday, 20th September 2026, organised by the Catholic Diocese of Kitui Education Department.

In his message, the Bishop encouraged teachers to remain committed to their vocation and pledged his support to every teacher, assuring them of his availability and accompaniment, guided by his motto, “Serve All in Love.”

Fr Antony Muema, Diocesan Education Secretary, thanked teachers for their dedication to advancing the mission of the Diocese. He emphasised the importance of teachers’ personal welfare, particularly mental health, as a key aspect of their well-being and effective service delivery.

The pilgrimage offered teachers an opportunity for prayer, the Way of the Cross, Confessions, spiritual renewal and fellowship.

We sincerely appreciate the Bishop, the Diocesan Education Advisory Board, the organising team and all teachers and stakeholders who made this occasion a success.

As we approach World Teachers’ Day on 5th October, may we continue to serve with faith, compassion and love.

SEPTEMBER 18, 2026 l CONGRATULATIONS TO THE NEW DIOCESAN EDUCATION ADVISORY BOARD

Congratulations to the new members of the Diocesan Education Advisory Board (DEAB), following their inauguration today by His Lordship Rt. Rev. John Mwandi at St. Augustine's Secretariat.

The Board members are Rt. Rev. John Mwandi, Rev. Fr. Antony Muema, Rev. Fr. Charles Kimanga, Sr. Winrose Wanjuki, Mr. Robert Ndungu, Ms. Virginia Kiilu, Mr. Benedict Mwambua, Dr. Brenda Kiema, Dr. Patrick Kutu, Dr. Agnes Kithikii and Mr. Nicodemus Kamwe.

The Board is mandated to formulate diocesan education policy in line with the Basic Education Act, 2013 and the Policy Document for Catholic Education in Kenya; ensure the Church fulfils its role as an education sponsor; develop guidelines for quality education based on Christian values and the formation of the whole person; advise the Bishop on education matters; oversee the establishment and registration of private and sponsored public schools; and uphold Catholic ethics and identity across diocesan education institutions.

Bishop John Mwandi expressed his confidence in the Board and called on its members to support the Diocese in their advisory role.

The Education Secretary, Fr. Antony Muema, appreciated the new members and urged them to work collaboratively to propel Catholic education to the next level.

The Catholic Diocese of Kitui Education Office remains a strong pillar in the formation and evangelization mission of the Church, nurturing learners in faith, values, and academic excellence.

Today, on behalf of the Catholic Diocese of Kitui, sponsor of Kithumuoni Comprehensive School in Mumoni Sub-County, I witnessed the handing over of school infrastructure worth KSh 40 million to the school community, courtesy of the M-PESA Foundation.
The day's activities began with Holy Mass celebrated by Fr. Antony Muema, Education Secretary and Vice Chair of the County Education Board, together with priests serving in Kamuwongo Parish. Speaking during the occasion, Mr. Nicholas Mulila emphasized the need to invest in education as a catalyst for job creation and sustainable development. Fr. Antony Muema noted that education remains the great equalizer and the fastest route to societal transformation.
We sincerely appreciate the M-PESA Foundation for this remarkable investment in education and for contributing to a brighter future for our learners and communities.

This Week's Round-Up

This week, I had the privilege of visiting St. Matthias Mulumba Endau Parish and St. Ignatius Endau Secondary School, where we emphasized the importance of quality education. Education remains the greatest equalizer, and I was encouraged by the spirit of hard work, determination, and commitment displayed by the learners and staff. These routine visits to our schools continue to inspire and strengthen our shared mission of academic excellence.

I also had a wonderful time at the diocesan-owned All Saints School within the parish. The school is a clear testimony that Catholic education is alive and thriving. Indeed, Catholic education is a reality here and is being offered at its very best, shaping young people academically, morally, and spiritually.
