Food Stall 2026, the signature annual gourmet experience offered by The English Literary Association of The Department of Languages brought the SUSL academic community together, Tuesday 17th.
Timeless delicacies, from hot hamburgers to cooling coffee delights, with fruity flavours in-between, were on offer!

The English Literary Association wishes to thank profusely all those who encouraged us through tireless efforts, companionship and participation, especially the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Languages Professor Rohan Abeywickrama, Head, Languages, Dr. Champa S. de Silva, and Assistant Registrar, FSSL, Mrs. Yashodha Chandrasekara. The warmth of togetherness offered by our academic colleagues from China, India and Japan added a truly international dimension to the event, so a big thank you to them! We take a bow in offering our gratitude to all members of the Academic Staff who strengthened us through their participation.

We acknowledge with warmth the timely assistance offered by Mrs. Sharmila Samaraweera, Mr. Chamith Janaka Bandara, Mr. W.R. Premarathna and Mr. Oshadha Galhena of our Non-academic Staff. And, as always, thanks and cheers to our student participants; as Kipling says, “yours is the Earth, and everything that’s in it.”

💐ඉපැරැණි උරුමයක ඉතිහාසය සොයා ශාස්ත්‍රීය සේතුව ගොඩනගමින් සබරගමුවෙන් රජරටට💐

ශ්‍රී ලංකා සබරගමුව විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ සිංහල විශේෂවේදී උපාධිය හදාරන ශිෂ්‍ය කණ්ඩායම ස‍ඳහා සෑම වසරක් පාසා ම කලාව හා සංස්කෘතිය යන විෂය ඒකකයට අදාළ ව සංවිධානය කෙරෙන දෙදින අධ්‍යයන චාරිකාව මෙවර නවමු මුහුණුවරකින් සංවිධානය කෙරිණ.

හුදු ශාස්ත්‍රීය ශවේෂණයකට පමණක් සීමා නොවෙමින් රජරට විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ සහ සබරගමුව විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ සිංහල විශේෂවේදී විද්‍යාර්ථීන්ගේ සාමූහික ශාස්ත්‍රීය අධ්‍යයනයක් පරිද්දෙන් එය සංවිධානය වූයේ අන්තර් විශ්වවිද්‍යාල ශාස්ත්‍රීය හා මානව සබඳතා තවදුරටත් පෝෂණය කරමිනි.

2026 පෙබරවාරි 27වන දින ශිෂ්‍ය කණ්ඩායම මිහින්තලා පුදබිමෙහි ඓතිහාසික පසුබිම ගවේෂණයෙහි නිරත වූහ. මෙම අවස්ථාව උදෙසා රජරට විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ සිව්වන වසර විද්‍යාර්ථීහු ද සහභාගී වූහ. එම අවස්ථාව ඉතා සාර්ථක ශාස්ත්‍රීය ගවේෂණයක් වූයේ ඒ සඳහා සම්පත් දායකත්වය සැපයූ රජරට විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ භාෂා අධ්‍යයනාංශයේ වැඩබලන අධ්‍යයනාංශ ප්‍රධාන, පූජ්‍ය ගල්කුලමේ උපරතන ස්වාමීන්වහන්සේගේ සහ ආචාර්ය කුසුම්සිරි කොඩිතුවක්කු මහතාගේ ද ශාස්ත්‍රීය දායකත්වය හේතුවෙනි.

එදින සවස් යාමයේ රජරට විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ භාෂා අධ්‍යයනාංශයේ සහකාර කථිකාචාර්ය භවන්ත චන්ද්‍රරත්න මහතා ඇතුළු ආචාර්ය මණ්ඩලය සහ ශිෂ්‍ය කණ්ඩායම එක්ව සංවිධානය කරන ලද “පැදුර” සහෘද සුයාමය අන්තර් විශ්වවිද්‍යාල මානව සබදතා තීව්‍ර කළ හෘදයාංගම හෝරා කිහිපයක් විය. හුදු ශාස්ත්‍රීය දැනුම පමණක් නොව සැබෑ සංස්කෘතික මානවයෙකු බිහිකිරීම උදෙසා එවැනි සුමයුරු හෝරාවන් අතිශය වැදගත් බැව් පැවසිය යුතු ම කරුණකි. එම සෞන්දර්යාත්මක ඉසිඹුව අතිසාර්ථක අයුරින් සංවිධානය කර, අප්‍රමාණ වෙහෙසක් දරමින් මනුෂ්‍යත්වයේ සැබෑ මහිමාව ප්‍රකට කර සබරගමු සරසවිය වෙත පුදකළ හෘදයාංගම උණුසුම වෙනුවෙන් ගෞරවණීය විශේෂ ස්තුතියක් සහකාර කථිකාචාර්ය භවන්ත චන්ද්‍රරත්න මහතා වෙත මේ මොහොතේ පුදකළ යුතු ය.

පසුදින මිහින්තලය කළුදිය පොකුණ ඓතිහාසික පරිශ්‍රය, රුවන්වැලි මහාසෑය, ජයසිරි මහා බෝධිය,ථූපාරාමය, අභයගිරිය, ජේතවනාරාමය, ලෝවාමහාපාය, රත්නප්‍රාසාදය, කුට්ටම් පොකුණ සහ සමාධි බුදු පිළිමය යන ඓතිහාසික උරුමයන් අධ්‍යයනය කිරීමට සබරගමු සරසවියේ සිංහල විශේෂවේදී කණ්ඩායමට අවස්ථාව උදාවිය.

සෑම වසරක ම තෝරාගත් විෂය කේතයන්ට අදාළ ව විශ්වවිද්‍යාලය මඟින් සංවිධානය කෙරෙන මෙම ක්ෂේත්‍ර චාරිකාවන් වූ කලී විද්‍යාර්ථීන්ට දේශන ශාලාවෙන් පිටතට ගොස් සැබෑ සංස්කෘතික වටිනාකම් සජීවී ව අධ්‍යයනය කිරීමට ලැබෙන්නා වූ මාහැඟි අවස්ථාවකි. මෙවර එය වඩාත් සාර්ථක වූයේ රජරට සහ සබරගමු විශ්වවිද්‍යාල අතර ශාස්ත්‍රීය සබඳතාව වර්ධනය කිරීම එහි තවත් අරමුණක් වූ බැවිනි.

මෙම කර්තව්‍යය සාර්ථක කරගැනීම උදෙසා සහයෝගය ලබාදුන් රජරට විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ, භාෂා අධ්‍යයනාංශයේ, අධ්‍යයනාංශ ප්‍රධාන, මහාචාර්ය පූජ්‍ය ඔලගන්වත්තේ චන්දසිරි නාහිමිපාණන්, වැඩබලන අධ්‍යයනාංශ ප්‍රධාන, පූජ්‍ය ගල්කුලමේ උපරතන ස්වාමීන්වහන්සේ, සහකාර කථිකාචාර්ය පූජ්‍ය කීඹීයේ අනුරුද්ධසිරි ස්වාමීන්වහන්සේ සහ සහකාර කථිකාචාර්ය භවන්ත ප්‍රමෝද් චන්ද්‍රරත්න මහතාගේ හෘදයාංගම දායකත්වය මේ මොහොතේ කෘතවේදී ව සිහිපත් කළ යුතු ය.

එමෙන් ම ශාස්ත්‍රීය ගවේෂණය උදෙසා ශිෂ්‍ය කණ්ඩායම් නිති දිරිමත් කරමින් අවැසි ඔවදන් සපයන මහාචාර්ය මනෝජ් ආරියරත්න මහතා සහ භාෂා අධ්‍යයනාංශයේ අංශාධිපතිනී ආචාර්ය චම්පා එස් ද සිල්වා මහත්මිය ඇතුළු ආචාර්ය මණ්ඩලයේ අප්‍රතිහත දායකත්වය මෙම අධ්‍යයන චාරිකාව සාර්ථක කර ගැනීමෙහිලා උපස්තම්භක විය.

මෙවන් ගවේෂණාත්මක අන්තර් විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයී ය සම්බන්ධතා හරහා විද්‍යාර්ථීන්ගේ දැනුම,කුසලතා මෙන් ම මානව සබඳතා ද තව තවත් ශක්තිමත් වන බව අපගේ විශ්වාසයයි.

The 3rd Research Seminar of the Association for Japanese Language Education overseas, will be held on the 7th and 8th of March 2026 at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Languages, under the theme of "Weaving Japanese Language Education Across Borders."

Christopher Peters, a German author, together with Stefan Winkler, Director of the Goethe-Institut Colombo, visited the Department of Languages at Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka on 10th February 2026.

Our German students had the wonderful opportunity to engage in a lively literary session with Christoph Peters, discussing his novel "Entzug". The session offered valuable insights into contemporary German literature and enabled direct interaction with the author, creating an inspiring experience that strengthened our academic and cultural ties.

We sincerely thank our distinguished guests for their visit. We look forward to continued cooperation and future engagements! 🇩🇪✨
