Parents' Meeting for CFS Second-Year Students

A parents' meeting for the second-year students of the Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS), who are currently on study leave and preparing to sit for the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination, was held via Zoom on 17 June 2026. At the scheduled time, all students were present at the ADRT Auditorium and participated in the meeting.

The meeting aimed to strengthen communication between the Institute and parents regarding the students' education, particularly their preparation for the A/L Examination and their current academic progress.

The meeting commenced with a welcome address by Ash-Sheikh M. J. M. Imthiyaz, Head of CFS. Ash-Sheikh M. F. Zainul Hussain, Registrar, briefed the parents on the syllabus coverage and highlighted the importance of parental awareness and support during this crucial period of examination preparation. Ash-Sheikh Dr. M. J. M. Arafath, Head of Academic Programmes, also addressed the gathering and shared valuable insights with the parents.

During the interactive session, parents expressed their views, raised concerns, and appreciated the Institute for providing such a valuable opportunity to engage with them regarding their children's education.

Mentors and staff members also participated, further strengthening the meeting.

Workshop on Tajweed al-Qur’an

A special workshop on Tajweed al-Qur’an was held on 16 June 2026 at the ADRT, with the participation of selected students of Naleemiah.

The workshop commenced with a welcome address delivered by the Rector of NIIS, Ustadh A.C. Agar Mohamed, who highlighted the importance of learning and reciting the Holy Qur’an correctly. He emphasised that Tajweed is an essential component in preserving the authenticity of Qur’anic recitation and encouraged students to continuously strengthen their relationship with the Qur’an.

The workshop was led by Ash-Sheikh Al-Qari Fawwaz Al Khilri, Founder of Markaz Al-Iqra for Qur’anic Studies and Sanad-Based Ijazah and Vice President of the All Ceylon Jam’iyyathul Qurra. During the session, he provided valuable insights into the principles and practical application of Tajweed, stressing the significance of accurate pronunciation and adherence to the rules of Qur’anic recitation. The interactive session enabled participants to enhance their understanding and appreciation of the science of Tajweed.

The workshop was jointly organised by the Jamiyyath Hamalathil Qur’an and the Extra-Curricular Activities Unit of Naleemiah Institute of Islamic Studies (NIIS) as part of the institute’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Qur’anic literacy and cultivate a deeper attachment to the Holy Qur’an among students.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Ash-Sheikh Dr. M.R.M. Arkam, Person-in-Charge of the Extra-Curricular Activities Unit.

Discussion Series on ‘Islamiya Sinthanai’ – Issue No. 165

A thought-provoking discussion session on the 165th issue of Islamiya Sinthanai, the journal published by the Naleemiah Bureau of Islamic Publications, was held on Monday 15.06.2026at the Naleemiah Auditorium.

Students from the Faculty of Islamic Studies presented summaries of each article. The session was attended by Ash-Sheikh Dr. A.J.M. Zihan as the guest.

The discussion series is jointly organised by the Naleemiah Bureau of Islamic Publications and the Academy for Development, Research and Training (ADRT), with the aim of raising awareness among students about the content and significance of articles published in the Islamiya Sinthanai journal.

افتتاح دورة شهادة في دراسات الترجمة بمعهد اللغة العربية

​تم افتتاح "دورة شهادة في دراسات الترجمة" المصممة لطلاب السنة الثانية بكلية الدراسات الإسلامية (FIS)، يوم الاثنين الموافق ١١ مايو ٢٠٢٦م، بقاعة المحاضرات بمعهد اللغة العربية بالجامعة.

​أقيمت الفعالية برئاسة رئيس المعهد، الدكتور أشكر عروس، وبحضور الدكتور حارث، عميد كلية الدراسات الإسلامية، كضيف شرف للمناسبة.

​تهدف الدورة إلى تنمية الكفاءات النظرية والعملية للطلاب في مجال الترجمة، وتتضمن ١٥ ساعة تدريبية مكثفة.
