Parent-Guardian Meeting for First-Year CFS Students Successfully Held

The Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) of the Naleemiah Institute of Islamic Studies conducted a Parent-Guardian Meeting for the First-Year (Old Batch) students via Zoom platform on 3 August 2026 at the ADRT, with the participation of the parents and guardians of all students.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Ash-Sheikh M.J.M. Imthiyaz, Head of CFS, followed by addresses by Ash-Sheikh Dr. Arafath Careem, Head of the Academic Programme and Ash-Sheikh M.F. Zainul Hussain, Registrar, who briefed the gathering on the Advanced Level academic programme. Ash-Sheikh Riyas Mohammed, representing the class teachers, shared observations on the students' academic progress and conduct.

During the interactive session, parents and guardians appreciated the initiative, offered valuable suggestions, and requested that such meetings be held regularly. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Ash-Sheikh Dr. Ashkar Aroos, followed by an interactive discussion with the students.

Annual Prize-Giving Ceremony 2025/26

The Annual Prize-Giving Ceremony for the academic year 2025/26 was held on 29 July 2026 at the Naleemiah Auditorium.

The ceremony was held under the patronage of the Rector and was graced by Asst. Prof. Dr. Sheikh Zacky Fouz, a Naleemiah alumnus, as a special guest, together with representatives of Rabitha An-Naleemiyyeen, the alumni association of Naleemiah.

The programme featured performances by students who secured first places in various academic, literary, and extracurricular competitions, followed by the presentation of certificates and awards to the winners.

A special highlight of the ceremony was the recognition of two students who completed the memorisation of the Holy Qur'an during their studies at Naleemiah. M. R. Hadhi Aathif, a first-year student, and Marfain Abdullah, a fourth-year student of the Faculty of Islamic Studies, were presented with special tokens of appreciation by the Rector in recognition of their remarkable achievement.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ash-Sheikh Dr. M.R.M. Arkam, the person incharge of the Extracurricular Activities Unit.

The Annual Prize-Giving Ceremony was generously sponsored by Rabitha An-Naleemiyyeen, whose continued support has significantly contributed to encouraging excellence and nurturing the holistic development of Naleemiah students.

Orientation Programme for Freshers – Intake 2026/27

The Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) organised an Orientation Programme for the newly admitted students of Intake 2026/27 from 15 to 23 July 2026 to familiarise them with academic and campus life at the Naleemiah Institute of Islamic Studies.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Ash-Sheikh M.J.M. Imthiyaz, Head of CFS, who welcomed the freshers and explained the objectives of the programme. The first session was conducted by the Rector, followed by sessions conducted by unit heads, lecturers, and invited trainers.

The students were introduced to the background and objectives of Naleemiah, the seven-year academic programme with special focus on the three-year CFS programme, its courses, and the various units of the institution. The programme also covered important areas such as the code of conduct, Arabic language learning, goal setting, healthy living, skill development, moral values, and spiritual growth.

Through motivational talks and interactive sessions, the freshers gained a better understanding of the institution and were prepared to begin their academic journey with confidence.

Special Session on Examination Procedures Conducted for Staff

The Unit of Examinations of the Naleemiah Institute of Islamic Studies conducted a special session on Examination Paper Setting, Evaluation, and Invigilation Procedures on 27 July 2026 at the ADRT.

The session was facilitated by Ash-sheikh Dr. M.R.M. Arkam, Head of Examinations, who presented an overview of current examination practices and discussed best practices in examination paper setting, answer script evaluation, invigilation responsibilities, and standard examination procedures to ensure fairness, consistency, and academic integrity.

The session enabled staff members to strengthen their understanding of institutional examination policies and encouraged the adoption of best practices in conducting examinations.

Naleemiah's First Batch Alumni Revisit Their Alma Mater

The alumni of the first batch of the Naleemiah Institute of Islamic Studies gathered at their alma mater on 18 and 19 July 2026 for a special reunion, reaffirming their enduring bond with the institution and its legacy.

During the visit, the alumni met and held cordial discussions with the Rector of the Institute, Ustadh A.C. Agar Mohammed.

As part of their contribution to the Institute, first batch alumni M.N.M. Shafeek and Ash-Sheikh J.M. Uvais donated more than 500 valuable books to the Naleemiah Library, further enriching its academic resources. In addition, M.S.M. Munawwar presented a collection of rare historical documents from the early years of the Institute, contributing to the preservation of Naleemiah's heritage.

Renowned Arabic calligrapher and first batch alumnus Ash-Sheikh J.M. Uvais also presented one of his original Arabic calligraphy artworks to the Rector as a commemorative gift.

The discussions emphasized the importance of preserving Naleemiah's history, traditions, and institutional heritage, with the alumni offering valuable suggestions on safeguarding and documenting its legacy for future generations.

As part of the gathering, Ash-Sheikh Dr. A.M. Afwardeen, another alumnus of the first batch, delivered a spiritual reminder at the Institute's Masjid, bringing the alumni and current students of Naleemiah together in a spiritually uplifting gathering.

The reunion reflected the first batch alumni's deep affection for their alma mater and their continued commitment to supporting its academic mission and preserving its rich legacy.

Special Discussion Held to Further Strengthen Islamiya Sinthanai

A special discussion aimed at further strengthening Islamiya Sinthanai, the scholarly journal published by the Naleemiah Bureau of Islamic Publications, was held on 16 July 2026 at the Conference Room.

The session brought together the academic and administrative staff of Naleemiah to exchange ideas and discuss strategies for enhancing the journal's academic quality, encouraging greater scholarly contributions, and further establishing Islamiya Sinthanai as a well-respected Islamic scholarly publication.

The programme was jointly organised by the Academy for Development, Research and Training (ADRT) and the Naleemiah Bureau of Islamic Publications. The discussion concluded with several constructive suggestions and recommendations to further strengthen the journal and expand its contribution to Islamic scholarship.

Rector Delivers Special Address to Jamiah Students

As part of welcoming the newly admitted students for the Academic Year 2026/27, the Rector of the Naleemiah Institute of Islamic Studies delivered a special address at the Institute Masjid on 15 July 2026.

In his address, the Rector highlighted the importance of upholding Islamic values and noble character within the Naleemiah family. He emphasised that love, mutual respect, brotherhood, sincerity, cooperation, and exemplary conduct should define the relationships among all members of the institution.

The Rector further stressed that brotherhood is one of the fundamental values that every Naleemiah student must embody. He encouraged both the newly admitted and senior students to cultivate an environment of mutual care, respect, and support, while making the best use of the educational, spiritual, and personal development opportunities available throughout their journey at the Institute.

The programme was organised by the Student Affairs Unit and was attended by both newly admitted and senior students.

Naleemiah Welcomes Freshers – Academic Year 2026/27

The registration of newly selected students for the Academic Year 2026/27 of the Naleemiah Institute of Islamic Studies was successfully held on 14 July 2026.

A special gathering was organised for the freshers, their parents, and family members to introduce them to the institute’s vision, mission, academic structure, and educational journey.

Addressing the gathering, Rector Ustadh A.C. Agar Mohammed highlighted Naleemiah’s unique mission of producing scholars who are not only learned in Islamic studies but also in modern disciplines. He noted that while many institutions prepare professionals for various fields, society also needs individuals who can provide sound moral, intellectual, and spiritual guidance. He further emphasized the importance of contributing to nation-building through knowledge, values, and service. Naleemiah is committed to nurturing such scholars who will serve and positively guide society.

Dr. H.L.M. Haris, Dean, briefed the gathering on Naleemiah’s seven-year educational journey, explaining the academic structure, learning process, and opportunities available for students throughout their period of study.

Representatives of the parents shared their insights and expressed their appreciation for the institute’s vision and commitment to holistic education.

The proceedings of the gathering were moderated by Registrar Ash-Sheikh M.F. Zainul Hussain. The Director of Academic Affairs, Heads of Units, and members of the academic staff were also present to welcome the new batch of students and their families.

Inaugural Session of the 100-Hour Sinhala Language Course to Foster Religious Coexistence (2nd Batch)

The inaugural session of the second batch of the 100-hour Sinhala Language Course to Foster Religious Coexistence for Naleemiah students was held on 30 June 2026 at the ADRT Complex of the Naleemiah Institute of Islamic Studies (NIIS).

The programme, jointly organised by the Department of Official Languages and the Naleemiah Institute of Islamic Studies (NIIS), aims to enhance inter-community communication, promote religious coexistence, and strengthen mutual understanding among the diverse communities of Sri Lanka.

Usthad A. C. Agar Mohamed, Rector of NIIS, graced the occasion and delivered remarks highlighting the importance of the programme, while also expressing gratitude to the Department of Official Languages and the instructor.

Mr. M. M. Seinudeen, Language Instructor from the Department of Official Languages; Ash-Sheikh M. I. M. Riyas, Person-in-Charge of the Skills Development Unit, which coordinates the programme; Ash-Sheikh M. L. M. Rinas, Course Coordinator; and Mr. Kanishka Hasalanka, Sinhala Language Lecturer at Naleemiah, were present.

The 100-hour course is designed to improve Sinhala language proficiency among students while fostering meaningful interaction and promoting harmony among Sri Lanka’s diverse religious and cultural communities.

Naleemiah Holds Parents’ Meeting

Jamiah Naleemiah periodically conducts parents’ meetings to strengthen the partnership between the Institute and parents. The latest meeting was held on 29 June 2026 at the Academy for Development, Research and Training (ADRT) of Jamiah Naleemiah.

This meeting was organised specifically for the parents of first-year students of the Faculty of Islamic Studies (FIS). It aimed to enhance communication between the Institute and parents regarding the students' academic progress, discipline, and overall development.

The Rector graced the occasion and delivered remarks highlighting the vital role of parents in the education and character development of their children. Ash-Sheikh Dr. H.L.M. Haris, Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Studies, emphasised the importance of parental support in maintaining students' discipline and achieving academic success. Ash-Sheikh Dr. A.J.M. Zihan, Head of the Student Affairs Unit, also addressed the gathering.

A special feature of the programme was the one-to-one parent consultation sessions, where parents met individually with relevant staff members to discuss each student's academic performance, discipline, and personal development.

The meeting was jointly organised by the Faculty of Islamic Studies (FIS) and the Student Affairs Unit.
