Workshop on Hindi Language and Hindi Translation Studies.

The Hindi Language Association of University of Sri Jayewardenepura successfully organized a workshop on Hindi Language and Hindi Translation Studies on 20th February 2026 for 2nd Year, 3rd Year, and 4th Year students.

The session was conducted by Chair Senior Professor Upul Ranjith Hewawithanagamage from the University of Kelaniya.

The workshop provided valuable insights into Hindi language learning, translation techniques, and the practical importance of translation studies in academic and professional fields. It was an enriching and interactive learning experience for all participating students. 📖🇮🇳

An academic diacussion on 'Nirmala' Novel by Premchand – A Critical Study. 🇮🇳🇱🇰

For the students following the HIN 4133 course unit in the Department of Hindi Studies, an online academic discussion on the novel “Nirmala” has been organized with the aim of developing critical understanding and literary analysis skills. The discussion will focus on the social background, themes, and literary significance of the novel.

This programme was held on 31st January 2026 from 3.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. via Zoom technology.

The novel “Nirmala” is considered an important work in Hindi literature that reflects social realities and human values. Through this discussion, students will gain the opportunity to broaden their literary knowledge and enhance their analytical thinking skills.

Objectives of this discussion are to develop critical understanding of the novel and to improve students’ literary and analytical skills.

The discussion was conduted by Professor Kanchan Sharma from department of Hindi, Manipur Central University, Imphal, North east India and the discussion is organized by Senior Lecturer Dr. Wajira Gunasena.

Workshop on Hindi Grammar and North Indian Culture. 📄🇮🇳

The Hindi Language Association of University of Sri Jayewardenepura successfully conducted a workshop on Hindi Grammar and North Indian Culture on 29th April 2026 for 2nd Year, 3rd Year, and 4th Year Hindi students.

The session was conducted by Senior Professor Lakshman Senevirathne from the University of Kelaniya.

The workshop provided valuable knowledge on Hindi language structures, grammar usage, and the richness of North Indian culture, creating an engaging and enriching learning experience for the students.

Congratulations to Our Hindi Students 🇮🇳🇱🇰🎓

Students of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura were awarded scholarships to study at Kendriya Hindi Sansthan under the Scheme of Propagation of Hindi Abroad for the Academic Session 2025–26.

The scholarship programme, offered by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, provided Sri Lankan students the opportunity to study Hindi language and Indian culture in Agra, India. The selected students travelled to India in August 2025 and successfully completed their studies, returning to Sri Lanka on 02 May 2026.
