GMBU debating team showcased exceptional eloquence and won 1st place in the 2026 Inter-Department Debate Competition, organized by the English Literature Association of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

Special congratulations to Hrithika Sarvodayan, Rukshana Rikaz, Chamika Dasanayake, and Sasindu Palihawadane for representing our unit with excellence and securing this outstanding achievement.

A motivated and competent graduate is invited to undertake MPhil research on the molecular characterization of entomopathogenic fungi. The research engages in interdisciplinary work involving fungal biology, molecular systematics, and advanced bioinformatics analyses.

𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀

• Field sampling of entomopathogenic fungi
• Microbiological and molecular laboratory work
• Bioinformatics and data analysis
• Literature review and scientific writing
• Preparation of progress reports and manuscripts

𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀

BSc (Hons) in Biology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Zoology, Botany or a related discipline from a recognized university.

Period of employment: Two (02) years
Stipend: LKR 60,000 per month

🎉 One-Day Workshop on Molecular Biology Techniques – Successfully Concluded! 🧬

We are pleased to announce the successful conclusion of our hands-on workshop, "Molecular Biology Techniques for Advanced-Level Biology Students and School Leavers," held on July 25th at the Genetics & Molecular Biology Unit, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

Participants gained practical experience in PCR, DNA extraction, and gel electrophoresis, while molecular cloning and DNA sequencing were covered in an informative theory session. Special thanks to everyone who actively participated and contributed to the engaging discussions!

Thank you to all students, school leavers, and the dedicated organizing team for making this event a valuable learning experience! 🥰✨️
