The Academy on Human Rights and Humanitarian Law at American University Washington College of Law proudly concluded the 2025 Inter-American Human Rights Moot Court Competition—marking the 30th anniversary of one of the world’s premier human rights competitions. Nearly 300 law students, coaches, and judges from more than 20 countries traveled to Washington, D.C., to take part in this unique trilingual forum—conducted in English, Spanish, and Portuguese—focused on using the Inter-American human rights system to address real-world challenges.
We extend our deepest thanks and congratulations to all who participated. Your talent, passion, and commitment made this milestone year truly unforgettable.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Inter-American Human Rights Moot Court Competition, hosted by the Academy on Human Rights and Humanitarian Law at American University Washington College of Law. Nearly 300 participants from more than 20 countries have gathered in Washington, D.C. for this unique trilingual competition—conducted in English, Spanish, and Portuguese—designed to train law students to use the Inter-American human rights system as a legitimate forum for addressing human rights violations.
