Feedback from one of our winners from our annual fundraiser. Thank you business donors for giving back to the community. Thank you, Cynthia and everyone who purchased tickets earlier this year.

We are on our way back to reality. We got to enjoy paradise with a lil’ extra bougie. Chris Crum donated 4 nights at his beautiful home Casa Bella Noche and we were the lucky winners. Every attention to detail was present. Highly recommend!!🤩

We traded a prize with another lucky winner and received a 24 hour golf cart with Tours by Alex. Alex was so kind. Would use him for sure in the future! This beautiful island just keeps on giving!

We have another restaurant prize we will redeem on our next visit. Two weeks goes by so fast when you’re having fun and recuperating.

If you’re not sure that you want to commit to being a sponsor for long-term, we have Caro who has two courses that she needs to complete to receive her master’s degree in education. These are courses that she could not take when her little boy was in the hospital earlier this year. The classes were delayed a couple of times and now they have finally started mid May. Caro will complete all of the requirements for her master’s degree in December.

The important thing to know is that with a master’s degree Caro has the opportunity to be eligible for higher paying jobs and insurance. Her scholarship is supporting her for university expenses. Caro is working and uses the money she earns to pay for her son’s medical expenses, including travel to Merida to see a specialist.

Please contact us if you would be interested in supporting Caro to complete her degree.

This is Stephanie. She will be completing her masters program and all requirements, including internships in June. With a masters degree in accounting, Stephanie will be in a better position to help support her family.
Stephanie loves to dance. It is evident in the smile that is always on her face when she’s dancing how much she enjoys it. And her dress, it’s gorgeous!.

The following students are in need of additional sponsors.

🎓Julian was added into the Scholarship Program in September. Julian, who is majoring in Physical Education, requested funding to take an extra course in teaching people with physical disabilities and we were able help.
The following link will take you to the Facebook post I made about him.

🎓 Marlene is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Family Law. Marlene will complete her masters and her internships April 2027.

🎓 Isabel - Is the mother of Julio, who is a little six-year-old boy with a pacemaker that has many medical expenses and travels to Mexico City.
Family law Doctoral program starts Feb'26 for 16 months plus internship. She is the only student who ever has asked if we would support her to this next step in her education. We believe with a doctorate, Isabel will be able to earn enough money to take care of her children and herself and have good health insurance.

🎓 Kalvin is currently enrolled at Instituto Campechano, pursuing a Bachelor's degree in artistic education, which will equip him with the skills to inspire future generations.

The ripple effect of education and opportunity. 💜

A stranger's kindness saved Hilde Back's life by helping her to escape to Sweden from N**i Germany, where both her parents died in concentration camps. Back eventually became a teacher and, remembering her days as a Jewish girl in Germany when she was denied the opportunity to attend school under the N**i Nuremberg Laws, she decided to pay for the education of a child who would otherwise not have a chance to go to school. The child she sponsored was Chris Mburu, a brilliant student in rural Kenya from a poor family. On today's World Kindness Day, their story shows how even small acts of kindness can touch many lives in ways entirely unforeseen.

Though Mburu earned excellent grades, his family couldn't afford the small tuition fee required to continue his studies beyond elementary school. His academic promise led to his selection for a Swedish sponsorship program, where Hilde Back chose to pay his way through secondary school. Mburu continued to excel, going on to earn degrees from the University of Nairobi and Harvard Law School.

In order to help other talented children from poor families continue their studies at secondary school, Mburu created a foundation in 2001. With the support of the Swedish Ambassador in Kenya, Mburu was able to track down the benefactor who had transformed his life and named the foundation in her honor: The Hilde Back Education Fund.

Back's small act of kindness grew in ways that she never could have imagined. The Fund has now helped nearly 1,000 children in Kenya continue their studies and her sponsored child has gone on to become an attorney and human rights advocate for the United Nations. In 2012, Back had the opportunity to travel to Kenya with Mburu and celebrate her 90th birthday by meeting many of the children whose lives have been changed by the foundation that bears her name.

"If you do something good, it can spread in circles, like rings on the water," Back once said. She passed away in 2021, at the age of 98, leaving a legacy that continues to ripple outward through hundreds of transformed lives.
