STEM OUTREACH PROGRAM | INSIDE THE CHIP: TINY TECH, BIG IMPACT | 28 September 2026

The Electronic Packaging & Thin Film Materials Research Group, Center of Excellence Geopolymer & Green Technology (CEGeoGTech), Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) has been conducted the STEM Outreach Program – “Inside the Chip: Tiny Tech, Big Impact” at SMK Pulau Nyior, Jitra.

The programme brought together 50 Form 4 students for an engaging and hands-on STEM experience, introducing them to the fascinating world of electronic packaging, semiconductor technology and materials.

Through practical activities and interactive learning, students had the opportunity to explore how tiny components and materials play a BIG role in powering today’s technology.

The students actively participated, enjoyed the hands-on activities and shared very positive feedback. Teachers also welcomed the programme and its approach to STEM learning.

A heartfelt thank you to the teachers and students of SMK Pulau Nyior for their enthusiasm and warm participation. We look forward to returning with more exciting STEM activities in the future!

🇹🇭 ICSMEI 2026 | Bangkok, Thailand

Successfully concluded the 1st International Conference on Sustainable Materials and Environmental Innovation (ICSMEI 2026), held as part of the 19th Asian Conference on Solid State Ionics (19th ACSSI).

ICSMEI 2026 was jointly organised with the Faculty of Material Science, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, and INCDPM, Romania, bringing together researchers and academics to share knowledge and explore new opportunities in sustainable materials and environmental innovation.

The conference featured:

🔹 More than 40 research papers covering various areas of sustainable materials and environmental innovation
🔹 4 keynote speakers from leading universities, including Tsing Hua University, China; Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore; and Universiti Malaya (UM), Malaysia
🔹 Participants from Malaysia, Thailand, Romania and Bangladesh
🔹 The signing of a Mutual Agreement between UniMAP and INCDPM, extending our long-standing MoU and strengthening research and academic collaboration

More than just a conference, ICSMEI 2026 provided a platform to exchange ideas, build networks and develop new international collaborations.

11 September 2026 | Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA/NCER)

CEGeoGTech, Faculty of Chemical Engineering & Technology (FKTK), Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), had the opportunity to engage in a fruitful and insightful discussion with NCER Malaysia.

The session provided a valuable platform to explore potential collaborations, industry–academia linkages, research opportunities, innovation, technology development, and initiatives that can contribute to the sustainable growth of the Northern Corridor region.

The discussion also highlighted the importance of strengthening partnerships between academia, industry and regional development agencies to translate research and innovation into meaningful impact for society and the region.

We look forward to building on this discussion and developing strategic and impactful collaborations in the future.
