We are delighted to share that the project titled “Cell Machine: Automation, Characterisation and Monitoring of Cell Culture Growth for Bio-Manufacturing Using AIoT Towards IR 4.0” achieved significant recognition at the KRAFT Challenge 2025 Grand Finale, held during the Malaysia International Healthcare (MIH) Megatrends Conference 2025 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on 26 November 2025. Competing among Malaysia’s leading innovators and researchers, our team proudly secured First Runner-Up in the Open Category and was further honoured with the Best in Research Award in recognition of the project’s scientific depth and real-world impact.
This achievement reflects the collective dedication and interdisciplinary expertise of our investigators: Prof Ir Dr Siti Fauziah Toha from the Kulliyyah of Engineering, International Islamic University Malaysia; Ir Dr Ahmad Syahrin Idris from the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Southampton Malaysia; Dr Muhammad Fauzi Daud from the Institute of Medical Science Technology, Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL); and Dr Izyan Mohd Idris from the Institute for Medical Research (IMR), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Ministry of Health Malaysia. Together, the team has advanced a cutting-edge AIoT-driven solution designed to automate and enhance the characterisation and monitoring of cell culture growth, supporting Malaysia’s aspirations in IR 4.0 and strengthening the nation’s bio-manufacturing ecosystem.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the MIH 2025 organisers, the KRAFT Challenge committee, our institutional partners, and everyone who has supported this journey. This recognition inspires us to continue pushing the boundaries of biomedical engineering, digital healthcare, and innovation for national progress.
