We are proud to share that our team had the opportunity to showcase SCALEBONE – Synthetic Bone at the Festival of Ideas (FOI) Putrajaya 2025, a national platform celebrating innovation, creativity, and impactful solutions for society.
SCALEBONE was developed to address the growing need for affordable, realistic, and locally relevant synthetic bone models for medical education and surgical training. Unlike imported products, SCALEBONE is designed based on Asian anatomical dimensions, enabling trainees to practice procedures more accurately and confidently. Manufactured using cost-effective polyurethane material, it offers mechanical properties close to real bone, making it suitable for drilling, sawing, and implant testing—at nearly 50% lower cost.
Beyond physical simulation, SCALEBONE is enhanced with an augmented reality (AR) application, allowing medical students and trainees to better visualise and understand anatomy in an interactive way. This combination of physical and digital learning supports more effective training experiences.
Our participation at FOI 2025 reflects our commitment to local medical innovation, reducing dependency on imported training tools while strengthening Malaysia’s biomedical ecosystem. We are grateful for the interest, feedback, and support received throughout the exhibition, and we look forward to future collaborations that translate research into real-world impact for healthcare and education.
