UTM is pleased to share highlights from a visit to NEC Innovation Park in Japan by researchers and postgraduate students from the Centre for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (UTM-CIAM), together with researchers from the Institute of Mathematics for Industry (IMI), Kyushu University.

The visit provided an opportunity to exchange ideas with NEC’s R&D teams on emerging AI technologies and research that can create value for society. We thank NEC and our colleagues at Kyushu University for the warm welcome and meaningful discussions. We look forward to strengthening this collaboration.

The 2nd Malaysia–Japan Symposium on Mathematical and Statistical Modelling (MJSMSM 2026) was held in Johor Bahru, bringing together researchers and students from Malaysia and Japan to exchange ideas and explore opportunities in mathematical and statistical modelling.

The symposium featured keynote lectures, invited presentations, and student team presentations, highlighting the importance of developing the Malaysia–Japan partnership in emerging areas such as mathematical modelling and artificial intelligence. The event strengthened people-to-people connections through research visits, student exchanges, and cultural engagement between Malaysia and Japan.

Alhamdulillah, the International Seminar on Mathematics in Industry (ISMI) 2026, held from 2–3 September 2026, has successfully concluded.

A heartfelt thank you to all participants, invited speakers, industrial delegates, collaborators, and supporters who joined us and contributed to the success of ISMI 2026.

The Applied Algebra and Analysis Group (AAAG) is pleased to congratulate our Master’s student, Nurin Alya Binti Jhon Kenedi, supervised by Prof. Dr. Nor Haniza Sarmin (Main Supervisor) and Dr. Nabilah Fikriah Rahin, UPNM (Co-Supervisor), on being selected to participate in the Southeast Asian Mathematical Society (SEAMS) School 2026 on Graph Theory and Related Fields.

The programme will be held from 8–18 November 2026 at the Institute of Mathematics, College of Science, University of the Philippines Diliman, Quezon City, Philippines. 🇲🇾🇵🇭

Alya has also been awarded support from the organisers, covering accommodation, a travel subsidy of up to PHP 10,000, and meals during the programme.

This is an excellent opportunity for Alya to deepen her knowledge in graph theory, exchange ideas with fellow mathematicians, and strengthen her international academic network.
