INCEIF, which stands for ‘International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance’, was established by Bank Negara Malaysia (Central Bank of Malaysia) in 2005 to meet the growing global demand for qualified professionals in Islamic finance, and to strengthen Malaysia’s status as an international centre for Islamic finance. Our aim is to be the knowledge leader in Islamic finance, providing excellent teaching, research and thought leadership.

A few moments from today’s IMF Talent Attraction Mission at INCEIF University, where our members of the INCEIF community had the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with representatives from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

We were pleased to welcome Mr Paul Murray, Deputy Division Chief, IMF and Ms Marina Agnese, Section Chief, Talent Attraction Policies, IMF, who shared insights into the IMF’s work, career pathways, the Economist Program and internship opportunities.

From conversations with our students to a little networking over coffee, the session was a chance to connect, ask questions and simply get to know the people behind a global institution.

Our Deputy President Operations (DPO), Mr Shazmeer Mokthar, was also among those who joined the conversation with the IMF team.

What happens when the world of international finance comes to campus?

Today, the INCEIF community had the opportunity to meet Mr Paul Murray, Deputy Division Chief, International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Ms Marina Agnese, Section Chief, Talent Attraction Policies, IMF, during the IMF Talent Attraction Mission at INCEIF University.

It was a chance for our students to hear directly from people working within the IMF, learn what happens behind one of the world’s major international financial institutions, and discover where a career in economics, finance and policy could take them.

From the Economist Program and internship opportunities to an open Q&A and informal networking session, there was plenty to take away and plenty to ask.

Sometimes, career inspiration comes from a lecture. Sometimes, it comes from a conversation with someone who is already where you hope to be.

Today, that conversation happened right here at INCEIF. 🤝🌍

Sometimes, learning starts with simply picking up a book 📖

Yesterday, ISRA Corner officially opened its doors at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), giving students a space to read, explore and discover more about Islamic finance from physical books and reference materials to research and insights available through i-FIKR.

The launch was officiated in the presence of Professor Dr Amir Shaharuddin, Director, Centre of Excellence for Islamic Social Finance, INCEIF University; Mr Mohd Ekmal Mohd Zazi, Regional Head, Consumer Banking, CIMB Islamic Bank Berhad; and Professor Dr Selamah Maamor, Assistant Vice-Chancellor, UUM College of Business (UUM COB) and Dean, Islamic Business School (IBS), UUM.

This marks the fifth ISRA Corner launched this year, with the support of CIMB Islamic Bank Berhad.

A little corner, perhaps. But hopefully one that sparks plenty of questions, ideas and conversations along the way.

INCEIF University is pleased to share that Prof. Dr. Aishath Muneeza, Professor and Associate Dean for Students & Internationalization, participated as a distinguished panellist at the 5th International Conference on Islamic Economics (ICONIE 2026), held on 15 October 2026.

Prof. Dr. Aishath Muneeza contributed to a panel discussion titled “What Concrete Reforms Are Needed to Position Islamic Finance as Part of the Global Solution?”, which explored the strategic reforms necessary to strengthen the global relevance and impact of Islamic finance.

The panel brought together distinguished academics and industry experts, including Prof. Datin Dr. Rusni Hassan from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Mr. Al-Fatih Gessan Aryasantana and Dr. Ahmed Asad from the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF). The discussion was moderated by Dr. Latifa Bibi Musafar Hameed, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Selangor Islamic University.

The discussion provided an important platform to reflect on how Islamic finance can move beyond conventional financial intermediation to become a more meaningful contributor to global economic resilience, financial inclusion, sustainability and social justice.

Advancing Islamic Finance: From Resilience to Transition

INCEIF University’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Prof Emeritus Dato’ Dr Mohd Azmi Omar, joined regional financial leaders at the Islamic Finance: From Crisis Resilience to Transition Finance forum, held on 14 October 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand, as an affiliated programme of the 2026 IMF–World Bank Group Annual Meetings.

Organised by the Islamic Bank of Thailand (ibank), the panel brought together Dr Thaweelap Rittapirom, Director and President of ibank, and Arga Mahanana Nugraha, Deputy President Director of Bank Syariah Nasional, with the discussion moderated by Prof Dr Murniati Mukhlisin.

The discussion explored how Islamic finance can build on its resilience, support sustainable transition financing and strengthen ASEAN’s role in the global financial landscape.

Through this engagement, INCEIF continues to contribute academic and industry perspectives to regional conversations shaping the future of Islamic finance.
