PGA 2025/2026 CELEBRATES DR. SITI HAWA’S MALAYSIA BOOK OF RECORDS ACHIEVEMENT | 8 August 2026
The Postgraduate Association (PGA) 2025/2026 joined the historic ceremony at Taman Seri Mahkota Aman, Kuantan, celebrating Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) alumnus, Dr. Siti Hawa binti Apandi. Dr. Siti Hawa achieved the Malaysia Book of Records (MBR) title as the "First Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Patient to Complete Continuous Higher Education Studies From Single University", successfully completing her journey from Diploma to PhD at UMPSA.
During the event, MBR Official Representative, Siti Nurhanim Mohd Noh, delivered the official certificate, while UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ts. Dr. Yatimah Alias, performed the symbolic robe-wearing ceremony. On behalf of the postgraduate community, PGA 2025/2026 President, Syazwani Najihah Mohamed Shamsuddin and Vice President, Wan Farhana W Idris, accompanied UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ts. Dr. Yatimah Alias, in presenting a Special Recognition of Excellence plaque to honor Dr. Siti Hawa’s remarkable perseverance and academic achievement.
Deepest appreciation goes to the Centre for Inclusive Technology & Ecosystem (iNKLUSIF) Director, Dr. Munira binti Abdul Razak, Senior Director of Academic Services, Pn. Ernie Nurazlin, and Head of Centre for Examination and Graduation, Cik Nor Sabrina Ismail for facilitating this visit, allowing the postgraduate student leadership to draw immense inspiration from Dr. Siti Hawa's resilience.
