Seorang pelajar PhD, Deborah Renting anak Jimmy (co-supervisor: Dr. Ahmad Syafiq bin Ahmad Nasir), dan dua orang staf Program Akuatik, Nazri Bin Latib @ Latip serta Mohamad Norazlan Bin Bujang Belly, telah menyertai Bengkel Pengurusan Sisa Makanan Black Soldier Fly anjuran Satoyama Farm Sdn. Bhd. pada 25–26 Jun 2026.

Penyertaan ini bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kemahiran dalam pengurusan sisa makanan menggunakan teknologi Black Soldier Fly (BSF) serta aplikasinya dalam akuakultur lestari.

Ilmu dan pengalaman yang diperoleh daripada pemain industri akan dimanfaatkan bagi menyokong aktiviti penyelidikan, pembangunan kapasiti dan pelaksanaan projek berkaitan circular ekonomi serta akuakultur mampan di UNIMAS.

📰 Featured in Suara Sarawak | Ikan Bandar Raya as a New Economic Resource

We are pleased to share that our programme, “Utilisation of Suckermouth Catfish (Ikan Bandar Raya) as an Alternative Animal Feed Resource”, conducted at Kampung Melayu Balai Ringin, was featured in Suara Sarawak on 25 May 2026.

The programme was led by Ts. Mohd Nasarudin Harith @ Abdul Nasir as the Programme Leader, with Dr. Roslianah Asdari our Programme Coordinator as a member of the programme team, bringing together research, community engagement and knowledge transfer initiatives under the project.

Implemented under the Komuniti@UniMADANI Programme, the initiative aimed to introduce the potential utilisation of suckermouth catfish, or also known as "Ikan Bandaraya" or pleco fish as an alternative protein source while increasing community awareness of its ecological impacts on river ecosystems.

This initiative demonstrates how an invasive species can be re-evaluated not only as an environmental concern, but also as a resource with socio-economic potential through research, innovation and community empowerment.

Special appreciation to the community of Kampung Melayu Balai Ringin, participants, collaborators, and everyone involved in making this programme a success.

Together, we continue turning challenges into opportunities through research and community engagement.

Sekalung penghargaan dan tahniah diucapkan atas kejayaan pematuhan Akreditasi Penuh 25 program akademik yang melibatkan 2 program Asasi, 22 program Prasiswazah dan 1 program Pascasiswazah (Kerja Kursus).

Lawatan Audit Pematuhan Akreditasi telah berjaya dilaksanakan pada 3–4 Disember 2025 dengan penglibatan seramai 15 orang Ahli Panel Penilai (APP) yang diketuai oleh Ts. Dr. Othman Mamat (Bidang Sains) dan Prof. Dr. Md Nasir Ibrahim (Bidang Sains Sosial).

Setinggi-tinggi penghargaan dan terima kasih diucapkan kepada semua Dekan Fakulti, Pengarah Pusat, serta PTJ yang terlibat termasuk dalam sesi temubual bersama panel penilai. Diharap pengiktirafan ini akan memberikan semangat kepada semua pihak program dalam memastikan kualiti akademik terus terjamin serta budaya jaminan kualiti dapat dikekalkan dengan cemerlang.
