MMU MOURNS THE PASSING OF OUR IBU UNIVERSITI

With profound sadness, Multimedia University joins the nation in mourning the passing of our beloved first Chancellor, Tun Dr. Hasmah Mohamad Ali, at the age of 100.

For MMU, she was more than our first Chancellor. She was our Ibu Universiti. Even after her tenure as Chancellor ended, her bond with MMU never did. She continued to grace our University with her presence over the years, always warmly welcomed as part of the MMU family.

Just last week, we met. Today, we mourn the loss of a truly cherished member of our University family. Thank you, Tun, for being part of MMU from the very beginning, and for continuing to be part of us through the years.
Our deepest condolences to the family of Tun Dr. Hasmah and to all Malaysians who mourn her passing. May Allah SWT grant her eternal peace and place her among the righteous.

The Faculty of Business (FOB), Multimedia University (MMU), is pleased to welcome Mr. Law Tien Soon, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Innov8tif Solutions Sdn Bhd, as the Industrial Advisor for the Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) (Digital Business Management) programme.

His visit provides a valuable opportunity for the Faculty to engage with industry perspectives, exchange insights on emerging digital business trends, and further strengthen the relevance of our programme to the evolving needs of the business world.

19 September 2026 marked an incredible journey through our joint collaboration between HASiL Melaka and FOB MMU Melaka.

From an exciting Explorace spanning, to a meaningful CSR Project at Masjid Saidina Ali, Bukit Katil — we combined learning, teamwork, and community spirit all in one day!

FOB engaged 45 students through “The Future CEO Challenge”, an interactive workshop held in conjunction with the Program Transformasi B40 di Universiti 2026 at MMU Melaka on 19 Sept 2026.

The programme was organised by Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (JKM) and co-organised by the Campus Director’s Office and Student Recruitment and Admission Department (SRAD), MMU, with the aim of exposing young participants to higher education and encouraging them to explore future educational opportunities.

Conducted in two sessions at the FOB iTrade Lab, workshops introduced participants to FOB and its academic programmes, followed by an ice-breaking activity and an interactive business quiz challenge. The activities offered students a fun and engaging glimpse into business education and university life.

The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Nur Iylia Syafiqah Abdul Malik, Ms. Fathiah Hashim and Mr. Nabil Abas, who guided and engaged the students throughout the sessions.

Through The Future CEO Challenge, FOB contributed to the programme by inspiring young learners to discover the possibilities of business education and higher education, while creating a positive and memorable university experience.

Two FOB students, Andrea Marie Pinto and Brindarani Logeswaran, proudly presented their research at the ASEAN Academic Forum 2026, organised virtually by CPA Australia on 8 September 2026.

Under the supervision of Dr. Audrey Lim Li Chin, CPA (Aust.), Andrea presented her research on TikTok’s role in shaping Malaysian Gen Z’s financial decision-making, while Brindarani explored the influence of social media on cryptocurrency investment decisions among Gen Z.

Their presentations contributed to timely discussions on the growing influence of social media on financial knowledge, financial literacy and investment behaviour among younger generations.

The forum provided our students with valuable exposure to a regional academic and professional audience while strengthening their research and presentation experience.

Well done, Andrea and Brindarani, and congratulations to Dr. Audrey Lim for guiding our students towards this meaningful achievement!

FOB students put their Event Management knowledge into action through two meaningful community engagement activities in September 2026, gaining valuable hands-on experience while creating enjoyable learning experiences for young children.

Through the Jayden’s Story Quest Roadshow, students engaged almost 60 children from EFL Educare, Melaka and Tadika Tepuk Amai Amain, Seremban, using storytelling and game-based activities to nurture English language skills, creativity and confidence.

Students also organised the “Satu Bangsa, Satu Negara – Malaysia MADANI” Colouring Contest, providing young children with a creative platform to explore the values of unity, harmony and togetherness.

With the guidance of their FOB lecturers, students experienced the realities of planning, coordinating and facilitating events, while strengthening their communication, teamwork and organisational skills.

Kudos to our students and lecturers for transforming classroom learning into real-world experience and meaningful community impact!

FOB student Andrew Tang Jia Hong continues his impressive Taekwon-Do journey, bringing home two GOLD medals and one BRONZE medal from the Kejohanan Jemputan Seni Mempertahankan Diri Super Star 2026! 🌟

Andrew secured GOLD in both the Individual Black Belt Sparring (1st–3rd Dan) and Team Black Belt Sparring (1st–3rd Dan) categories, while earning BRONZE in the Individual Black Belt Pattern (2nd Dan) category.

His latest achievement adds to his growing collection of sporting accolades and reflects his discipline, perseverance and commitment to excellence while pursuing his studies at MMU.
