The Student Representative Council (SRC) is committed to supporting clubs and societies in organizing events that enrich campus life through fun, inclusive, and well-managed activities. We value collaboration and stand ready to assist groups that uphold principles of fairness, transparency, and accountability.
Regrettably, after careful consideration, the SRC has decided to withdraw its involvement in the upcoming Basketball Tournament. This decision follows significant challenges in the planning process that conflict with our commitment to student-focused events. Key concerns include:
1. Inconsistent Guidelines: Tournament rules underwent multiple revisions after registration opened, creating confusion among participants.
2. Participation Concerns: Eligibility restrictions were applied unevenly, undermining the event’s commitment to equitable access.
3. Unfulfilled Commitments: Agreed-upon arrangements (e.g., referees) were altered without timely communication or consultation.
4. Planning and Follow-Through: Critical organizational responsibilities were repeatedly delayed or overlooked, impacting the event’s viability.
5. Communication Barriers: Efforts to resolve issues were hampered by unclear accountability and delayed responses.
Due to differences in working approach and expectations, SRC has decided to withdraw from the event officially. From this point forward, the Basketball Club will take full responsibility for organizing and running the tournament independently and SRC will no longer be involved in the planning or ex*****on of this tournament and will not be held responsible for its outcomes.
That said, we want to make it clear that this decision is based on how the process was handled, and not targeted at any individual. We continue to support any club or society that is committed to organizing events with clear communication, inclusivity, and responsibility.
We appreciate your understanding.
