University of Technology Sarawak - UTS Founded on 1 April 2013, UTS is located at the Central Region of Sarawak, Sibu and the only university which is wholly owned by Sarawak State government.

The University College of Technology Sarawak (UCTS) was officially upgraded to a full-fledged university and rename as University of Technology Sarawak (UTS) on 10th November 2021. UTS was initially established to cater for the development of Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE). Currently, UTS plays an important role in Sarawakโ€™s human capital development to produce skilled workforce requ

ired for Sarawak to be an industrialized state by 2030. As a TVET university, and heading Sarawak towards industrialization and digitalisation, UTS provides qualified graduates with the latest technical knowledge, skills and expertise in science and technology. UTS continues to commit in providing access to an affordable world-class university education that nurtures creative and entrepreneurial leaders through a broad education in science and technology, while combining the career benefits of an applied approach for industry-related research and career opportunities. In teaching and learning, UTS has produced 2,200 graduates since its inception in 2013 with an average employability rate of 99.1%, among the highest employability rate in Malaysia. Programmes offered in UTS is not entirely focusing on academic but also emphasised on skills that are recognised by both local and international industries. UTS has been awarded as the โ€œPusat Bertauliahโ€ (Accredited Centre), under the Centre of TVET and Skills, which is awarded by Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran (JPK), under the Ministry of Human Resource Malaysia. Hence, UTS has been awarded with a 4-star rating by Penarafan Bersepadu Institusi Pendidikan Tinggi Malaysia (SETARA). On the other hand, UTS also prides itself as the only university in the world being awarded the prestigious Platinum ratings in Green Building Index (GBI) for its campus design in promoting sustainability in the built environment and energy utilization.

UTS successfully organised the final leg of the RoboClash Challenge 2026 at the Dewan Masyarakat Serian today.

Supported by the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Sarawak (MEITD) and organised in collaboration with our strategic partners, the state-wide robotics and hands-on skill competition drew an overwhelming response, attracting over 380 students from across Sarawak.

The official launch of the RoboClash Challenge 2026 was officiated by YB Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Sarawak. UTS expresses its highest gratitude to YB Dato Sri for his presence and continuous commitment to nurturing local talent and technological innovation.

Also present at the event were YBhg Datu Haji Adana bin Haji Jed, the Permanent Secretary of MEITD, YBrs. Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Mohd Shahril Osman, the Acting Vice Chancellor of UTS and Mr Lau Wee Ming, the Head of Marketing and Student Recruitment Department (Kuching).

UTS proudly hosted the MC KUL International Scholarship Awarding Ceremony 2026 today, honouring outstanding students who have been selected as recipients of the prestigious scholarship sponsored by Mitsubishi Corporation Kuala Lumpur Branch (MC KUL). The ceremony was attended by distinguished representatives from Mitsubishi Corporation Kuala Lumpur Branch, led by Mr Kosuke Makino, Country Representative for Malaysia and General Manager, together with Mr Riki Mochida, Deputy Department Head, Administration Department, Ms Juliana
Hamzah, Deputy Department Head, Human Resource Department, and Ms Shafura Ariff, Assistant Manager, Administration Department.

Representing UTS were Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ir Dr. Mohd Shahril bin Osman, Director of Student Development & Services Centre Mr Lu Yew King, Registrar Mr Jimmy De Rozario, Bursar Dr Rabuan Mantine, and members of the
