🤝 NUST Successfully Concludes Salary Negotiations with NAPWU and TUN

NUST has successfully concluded salary negotiations for the 2026/2027 financial year, providing for a 5% salary increase for eligible administrative and academic staff.

The agreement with the Teachers’ Union of Namibia (TUN), representing the academic Bargaining Unit, was signed on Tuesday, 01 September 2026, while the agreement with the Namibia Public Workers’ Union (NAPWU), representing the administrative Bargaining Unit, was signed today, Friday, 04 September 2026.

For administrative staff, the increase applies to permanent employees in Job Grades 7 to 16, including employees on contracts of one year or longer. For academic staff, it applies to permanently employed academic staff within the Bargaining Unit, including employees on full-time contracts of one year or longer. The 5% increase is effective from 01 January 2026 and will be reflected in the October 2026 payroll.

NUST Vice-Chancellor Prof Frednard Gideon thanked staff for their dedication, professionalism and continued commitment. “By working together with a shared sense of purpose, we will continue to strengthen the University and advance our pursuit of academic and institutional excellence." He further lauded both negotiating committees for the collaboration and mutual respect that guided the successful conclusion of the negotiations.

✈️🌍 Europe awaits!

Twenty-eight NUST students are heading to Europe for international mobility programmes this semester, taking their studies beyond borders and gaining valuable academic and intercultural experience along the way.

They will pursue undergraduate and postgraduate studies at NUST partner universities in 🇦🇹 Austria, 🇩🇪 Germany, 🇭🇺 Hungary and 🇪🇸 Spain through the Erasmus+ mobility programme.
