The students of the English department of the Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences of the Abdou Moumouni University of Niamey celebrated the day of the students of the said department on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, in peace and tranquility.
The club of these students known as Martin Luther King Jr English Club of Abdou Moumouni University (MLK-ECAMU) organizes this annual event.
Given the critical importance of this international language in this nation today, the decision to make the theme of this ninth edition—the English language as a sine qua non for career development—relevant and wise. A day devoted entirely to English was complemented by literary and artistic activities, competitive football game, and academic activities like reading and spelling.
Due to the attendance of teachers from the department, including Dr. Amadou Abdourazac, Deputy Secretary General of SNECS, the phrase "a family we are," which these students often use, has become a reality on this day.
It is also important to highlight the participation of the appropriate national and international authorities who offered all of their material, financial, and moral support. Among them are the Embassy of Pakistan Niamey, represented by its Ambassador, His Excellency Ali Sirohiy, who never shied away from taking the lead in our initiatives while supporting the empowerment of the Niger national youth; the U.S. Embassy NiameyU.S. Embassy Niamey Embassy Niamey represented by the American Corner Niamey, coordinated by Dr. Hamissou Ousseini, a professor and researcher at the École Normale Supérieure and Stephen Dreikorn, Public Affairs Officer; the British Embassy UK in Niger, with Her Excellency the brave woman Catherine Inglehearn; and a lot of local, national, and international friends, including Ben Sustar, who surprised us, and others from different Niamey clubs.

Our club and pride is MLK, remember.
An only place we come to gather.
