This year's founders' day anniversary, the 113th, will be celebrated along with 100 years of the founding of AGSOBA, in 1921.

AGSOBA is the premier alumni association in Nigeria. Our school is truly..... primus et solus - the first and only!

The events marking these joyous occasions will commence on the 5th to 11th of July, 2021.

Abéòkúta Grammar School was established on the 8th of July, 1908. Classes started on the 16th and as you know, the school must first be established before classes would commence.

Join us in Abéòkúta to thank God for sparing our lives, particularly throughout this pandemic. Whilst celebrating, let us also spend some moments to remember our members and our family members who passed on during this unfortunate period.

Finally, please support the AGSOBA in prayers, good wishes and with your resources to make this a glorious outing.

Almighty God bless you and keep you.

Abeograms.....primus et solus!

Fellow Agsoba,

Erin wo, ajanaku sun bi oke!!!

With heavy a heart, but with gratitude to God for a memorable life, well spent in service to God, Egbaland, AGSOBA and humanity, I announce the transistion our father, Agsoba Baba Chief Olatunbosun Lampejo DA 4852, Immediate Past President-General, AGSOBA.

The unfortunate incident occurred yesterday, 16th February, 2021.

Preliminary information at my disposal was that Baba was not ill, but went to attend to a routine check-up at the First Cardiology Hospital, Lagos, where the sad incident occurred.

I have spoken with his son, Mr Dotun Lampejo who is currently abroad but making plans to come back to Nigeria immediately.

Baba will be badly and sadly missed, but we cannot question God.

While waiting for further details, I enjoin all Agsoba to pray for his family, that God will grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.

May God grant the repose of the soul of our beloved Baba and may he spare the lives of our other Babas for many more years to come. Amen.

May He put an end to further deaths of both young and old in our Association and in our land. Amen.

A ku ara fera ku. Enyin Baba wa a suwon. Odun a jina si ra. Amin.

*ABAYOMI ADESINA OTENAIKE 1972 TO 2020*

It has been hard writing these lines, because it is difficult to find the exact words to describe our relationship and all the feelings involved in it.

How can we describe someone so special in plain words? And, how can we possibly sum up the feelings and memories of a group (AGSOBA 8388) for Yomi in one tribute? It’s almost impossible.

I’ve received so many messages this week and have heard from many people from many places saying “there are no words” – well, there are. There are words.

There are words of happiness about the treasured time we all had with Yomi, albeit too brief. There are words of beauty to describe his individuality, strong character and determination.. There are words of sorrow to try and communicate what we are feeling now he has left us.

But maybe most of all there are words of strength, of hope, of power, of resilience and of tender love. Words that can bring us all together, to cross these choppy waters and come out the other side, better for it.

Yomi was a fiery spark full of love and determination. He was handsome, smart, challenging, empathetic and encouraging. He always looked to grow; to better himself as a person and a professional.

He was a great listener with time for friends from all walks of life. He was as selfless as he was determined and left his mark on so many people.

Our path crossed in the 80s at Abeokuta Grammar School and no-one was left in doubt of your qualities……
WAEC came too soon and we all left to fashion a living for ourselves. After 30 years of leaving Abeokuta Grammar School, we came together again to celebrate. Despite 30 years post graduation, you were able to contribute in many ways to the terms that bind us together.

We were not ready to say goodbye. Yomi why did you leave and not say goodbye? However, God knows best and took you home to rest. We know you are in a better place now.
Now all we have are memories and your picture in a frame. Your memory is our keepsake, with which we will never part. God has you in His keeping, we have you in our hearts.
Abayomi Adesina Otenaike, goodbye and sleep tight. God be with you till we meet again at the feet of Jesus Christ our Lord and saviour.

Agsoba (Engr) Adekola Omikunle 6367 @ 70

Good day Fellow Agsoba Worldwide,

Earlier today, I was at the school premises for the presentation of Physics text books and Physics laboratory supplies to the School to mark the 70th Birthday of Agsoba (Engr) Adekola Omikunle 6367. Items presented were 200 copies of official Physics textbooks for Senior Secondary School students and 25 different kinds of laboratory materials.

The photos are below.

As a testimonial of our efforts and in relation to this presentation of instructional items, the Principal gave us the cheering news that the HEP of the school imporved from the lamentable 9.7% to 20% by the 2019 WASSCE. It is my hope that it will keep getting better.

I also took time to formally see the sets of past WASSCE Questions booklets that I presented earlier in the year.

Happy Birthday Agsoba Omikunle and thank you for sowing into the lives of the next generation.

Abeograms.. primus et solus.

AGSOBA NEWS Launches Newsletter.
Fellow Agsoba, good day worldwide,

Last Saturday, 26th September, 2020, AGSOBA NEWS team presented their quarterly newsletter to members.

The idea of a newsletter is one of the measures to address the peculiar situation the pandemic has created in every sphere of life. In our case, the AGSOBA NEWS team were not able to produce their regular publication. Besides, our annual flagship event, the Founders' Day couldn't hold.

They reasoned that it was necessary to keep members updated about news relevant to the school and AGSOBA, hence the quarterly Newsletter. A befitting name is being considered for the magazine and one has been suggested by Agsoba Femi Kotoye DA 6771 - The Cellar.

As you may be aware, our unique school had a cellar in the old stone building in Igbehin campus erected in 1910. AGS is probably the only school in Nigeria that had such a building with a cellar.

As usual, Abéòkúta Grammar School, AGSOBA are first in every thing, hence our buyline ... primus et solus.... this is probably the first secondary school alumni association newsletter, it is certainly the first in Ogun State and the first in the AIONIAN group of schools.

We commend the AGSOBA NEWS team for a job well done. We commend the newsletter to all members, clubs and branches, kindly participate in providing content and patronise it.

Thank you.
