DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GEOLOGY AND GEOGRAPHY
Geology and Geography are distinct scientific disciplines, though they often intersect in studying the Earth. Here's a brief comparison:

1. Geology:

Focuses on the Earth's physical structure, materials, and the processes that shape it.

Studies rocks, minerals, plate tectonics, earthquakes, volcanoes, and Earth's history.

Concerned with the deep time of Earth's formation and evolution.

Example: Investigating how mountains form or analyzing fossil records.

2. Geography:

Deals with the spatial distribution of physical and human phenomena on Earth's surface.

Studies climate, landforms, population, cultures, and human-environment interactions.

Often split into physical geography (natural features like rivers) and human geography (human activities and their impacts).

Example: Mapping urban development or studying climate change effects on ecosystems.

Medical geography is a branch of human geography that focuses on the study of the spatial distribution of disease and public health, and the relationship between the natural, social environment and human health. Medical Geography is interested in understanding how diseases spread, and the impact of geographical factors such as climate, terrain, water, and environmental resources on the health of individuals and communities.

# Medical Geography Goals:
1. Analysis of Spatial Patterns of Disease: The study of how diseases are geographically distributed and why they exist in certain locations more than others.

2. Defining the Relationship Between Environment and Health: Understanding how environmental factors influence human health, including the impact of pollution, climate, and the availability of clean water.

3. Health Planning: Providing the necessary data and information to assist in health planning and the effective distribution of health services in various regions.

4. Exploring Socio-Economic Impacts: Understanding how socio-economic conditions affect health and the spread of disease.

Study topics in Medical Geography:
- Epidemics: such as the spread of infectious diseases (calmalaria, tuberculosis, and cholera).
- Chronic diseases: such as cancer, heart disease and diabetes.
Environmental Factors: impact of climate, geographical location, air and water quality on health.
- Demographic Composition: The study of the relationship between population distribution and the appearance of diseases.

Medical Geographic uses:
- Identifying the areas with high health risks.
- Improving the distribution of health services.
- Forecast of the spread of epidemics.
- Supporting health policies and health planning.
