NAMS UNIABUJA HOLDS HISTORIC STUDENT-STAFF TOWNHALL MEETING
On Thursday, May 15th, 2025, the Nigerian Association of Microbiology Students (NAMS), University of Abuja, held a general student-staff townhall meeting that has already been described as one of the most productive and unifying events in the association’s recent history.
Students engaged with the session wholeheartedly—asking questions, sharing concerns, and expressing themselves to the fullest. The level of openness and honesty displayed throughout the meeting reflected a student body deeply invested in its academic environment and committed to meaningful dialogue.
In attendance were the Head of Department, Dr. B.O. Akanbi, level advisers from 100 to 400 level, departmental lecturers, and laboratory technologists, all of whom made valuable contributions. Their cooperation and responsiveness added to the quality of discussions and reinforced a shared commitment to progress.
At the heart of the session was a highlight presentation by the NAMS President, Comrade Morakinyo Abdullah Opeyemi, who offered a concise but thoughtful overview of first semester activities. His remarks reaffirmed that NAMS is not just another departmental body, but one with direction, strength, and a growing sense of unity among its members.
Another significant point in the meeting was the introduction of the official NAMS website, [www.namsuniabuja.com.ng ]. The platform is now live and designed to enhance access to academic materials, important updates, student feedback, and general departmental information.
The meeting fulfilled a key promise of the current administration—to improve communication and strengthen the relationship between students and departmental leadership. It was conducted with clarity, purpose, and mutual respect.
Sincere appreciation goes to the NAMS executives and parliamentarians for their active involvement and coordination, which contributed to the success of the event.
